(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I bought this two years ago. It works great, battery last long time. It would be even better if trimmer head could rotate for 90 degrees for grass edge trimming.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Excellent quality tool. Powerful motor with easily controlled variable speed. Line feeding works flawlessly. Best feature is that it works with the same batteries I already have for my Greenworks snow blower and lawn mower. After four years of use in the snow blower and lawnmower the batteries still hold charge the same as when they were brand new.
Awesome trimmer and super quiet the 2.5 Ah battery should last a long time. I only use it in speed 1 and not even full speed in. I trim and edge my whole property and the battery doesn't ever drop one bar.
(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I am definitely sold on the switch to battery operated. It has a lot of power and is easy to use. I am very happy with the purchase.
I hoped it would cut the fields I have to clear once a year, but was doubtful. I have attached pictures of one location I was clearing that shows what I have done versus what was left to do. You can see from the photos that this Trimmer can cut through the high and thick growth.
Outstanding Tool! Previously, I was using an edger attachment coupled with the Greenworks interchangeable motor. This dedicated tool makes things so much easier. It is much more powerful than the attachment edger. I wish I would have gotten this sooner. It cuts twice as fast.
I love this trimmer and I already have another one. However, this one a different head on it and it is extremely difficult to get the string to pass all the way through. When you're trying to restring it. I can only get it to go in from one side and it takes a lot of work and patience to get it to finally slide through. My older one does not have that problem but the head is different on it
This replacement part works well, but there should be an option to purchase the bump knob separately from the entire trimmer head. The bump knob experiences more wear than any other part, and users should not have to buy an entire trimmer head just to replace that one part.
I like the new battery charger. It is easier to insert and remove the battery. This string trimmer feels heavier than the older model I had. The new metod to feed the string into the trimmer head is great but I have problems with the string release while using it and the quality of the string sucks. It brakes constantly and I have to bump the feeding head every few steps along the grass edge. FYI, I still use the cutting string provided with the new tool. I also have to bump the feeding head 2-4 times to get the string released. The older model released the string after only one bump. It is really frustrating.
I own a small lawn plus business and have been running battery ope handhelds pretty much exclusively for about the last 4 years......probably over a thousand hours of use with battery sting trimmers alone. This string trimmer has a real nice build to it...seems real solid and the motor is very smooth. The trimmer falls flat in use though.....literally useless. The problem is the programming with the way the machine reacts to resistance is way off. It will shut off at the lower power settings whenever it meets even moderate resistance.....and if you modulate the trigger at the lower speeds to what i call "tickle" trimming it will shut off at a very random point so as to make it completely useless in fragle triming situations. At the higher settings it is equally useless suffering from the same short comings as it does at the lower settings.... Just happening with a little more resistance.... Heck this thing will even shut down when you ty to bump feed the head on the ground at times. So form is a 5 and function is a 0. I have about 8 amp hours of use on the machine....enough to figure it is unusable but not so much to say i over used it and had too high of expectation of a prosumer machine.
