Greenworks 60 Volt Walk Behind String Trimmer, Cordless

Didn’t expect this to compare to a gas powered walk behind trimmer, but this machine has great power! Batteries have a long life. Had an area that was almost a jungle, no way a regular mower or regular grass trimmer would have gotten the job done, unless I wanted to waste multiple spools of line and an extensive amount of time. What I like also is the trimmer head design, no openings which help keeping longer trimmings from getting stuck or tangled in the head.

I spent a lot of money on this because I have a number of Greenworks tools and after getting this machine I find that the batteries are specialized, not interchangeable and cost more that the trimmer plus they don't have replacement strings so it is pretty much an expensive lawn ornament.

battery is 350 bucks.. charger another 40.. do your self a favor and save some money and get a package deal where all is included. this unit needs a 60v 8ah battery to work properly. wal mart does not sell them. nor does amazon.

Works well on tall grass and weeds. The folding handle save storage space, tucks in nicely next to my Greenworks mower. The only concern I have is the need to use a 5mm hex key to adjust the cutting height.

It's the perfect amount of run time on 1 battery for her needs and if it's not it charges in 80 minutes. I would highly recommend it.

It does burn through a battery pretty quickly, so you will need two unless you have a tiny yard. The cord is tough and can take down some serious over growth. There is no wheel on front end, no height setting. So you have to balance/lift font end by tilting it up on the main wheels and try to keep steady at that height as you walk. Its going take a lot of practice to edge a straight line.

The trimming I've done so far hasn't drawn the battery down much, so I don't anticipate ever running out of energy. 60 V times 8 A-hr. is 480 W-hr., three times as much energy as my 40 V, 4 A-hr. batteries. The 60 V chargers have cooling fans which enables a faster charge.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very happy with this string trimmer! It has plenty of power to cut through meadows with grasses and weeds with moderate stems. Battery power is great, lasts a longer time than I expected. Overall very happy with this item!
