I just unpacked greenworks hedge trimmer and attached it to my 40 volt trimmer motor. So far so good. It trims thick vines and weeds much better and faster than the string trimmer head. I also have a circular blade attachment which can cut through trees as thick as an inch or more but the hedge trimmer has a much larger cutting path. By comparison, the string trimmer head which is nominally 14” in diameter only has an effective cutting path of 4” beyond the spool. The blade, 7” in diameter has an effective cutting path of only a couple of inches. The hedge trimmer's cutting path is the full 16” length of the bar. Both the blade and the string manage to get tall grasses and weeds wrapped around itself. Not so with the hedge trimmer. Sweep through a tall thicket of grass, weeds, saplings bushes and the cuttings just fall away, sometimes needing only a twist or a shake. I like how the bar is adjustable so that I can set it parallel to the ground. When I need to trim the top of my forsythia bushes it's really easy to change the cutting angle. Because the tool is heavier than the other attachments I had to attach the shoulder strap ring close to the handle to balance the tool against the motor/battery but it came with an extra strap and ring so now I can put the strap in either position. I set the motor to the lower speed setting and after about an hour, which was my limit on an 80 degree day, the 4AH battery had used only half its power. I also have the greenworks 80 volt chainsaw and the 40 volt pole saw and I'm very glad that the hedge trimmer was available. Time will tell how sturdy it is and how long it will last.
