GrillTex Under-the-Grill Protective Patio & Deck Mat, 27" Round

When i opened the package I was pleased with the quality of the mat. I immediately put it under the grill. I wish it had been rectangular but the round one works. I did some hamburgers and I always get grease and food on the patio, not with the mat. It collected everything. I like it.

This is a tough as nails mat that will protect from anything that might fall onto it. It is thick and it isn't going anywhere once you put it down. Easy to clean. I imagine if you dropped a lit coal on it, it could scar it, but I don't think it would burn through unless you just left it there. As you see in the picture, this is made specifically for the round charcoal grills, so if you have a grill that drips, this will save your flooring.

I received this item shortly before moving from a house with an outdoor grill that needed this into a new house where I did not have an outdoor grill. Since I did not need it for the grill, I looked for other opportunities to use a protective mat and found that I could use it under the gasoline powered tiller that I stored in the garage. It is easy to clean and prevents the dirt on the tiller tines from getting on the garage floor.

I was really impressed by the simplistic nature of this mat. The non-skid texture is safe for standing on while grilling and it doesn't absorb any of the fluid or grease that falls on it. I also like that it is lightweight and simply rolls up after cleaning for easy storage.

The GrillTex under-the-grill mat is great for catching all the drips and spills when we B-B-Q. The sturdy mat cleans up with soap and water. Since our grill is rectangular and not round we place it under the drip pan area and it works fine. No more nasty marks on the cement floor. When not in use we roll it up and store it next to the grill which works out great for us. We also like the fact that the mat is not slippery and at our age that is a major plus.

Of course, my grill is on my wooden deck. Why would anyone not want to place one of these mats under their grill, to protect the wood?...or the concrete/stone of your patio? It is just the right size for my little grill. You would have to go to a larger size for a full sized grill. It is fairly thick and pliable, feels sturdy, and will no doubt, last a long time. The only issue I can foresee with this mat is that, you would have to take it up...or tack it down for a storm, because it doesn't seem heavy enough to stay put in a high wind. Other than that, it seems wonderful and completely capable of doing it's job of protecting my wooden deck.

The GrillTex under the grill protective patio & deck mat 27" round mat I got is only suitable for small apace, small grills, if you are in a condo, or apt. and have a 2 burner grill , this will be adequate , if you have a larger, 3-6 burner grill, it will be ineffective as it is too small!

Works okay for a small grill or smoker since it's only 27" round. Would not recommend it for manufactured decking or for areas exposed to rain. It may leave a black stain underneath and mar your flooring. It does protect the area under the grill from splatters and splashes. I don't rate it highly because it is thin and is not resistant to hot charcoal briquettes, which will burn a hole right through it. Would not recommend it for heavy duty grilling but it works great as a pad underneath exercise equipment to protect the floor.

I would compare the mat to having an area rug under your coffee table, really serves no purpose other than looking nice. The item seems to be made of quality material. It is easy to clean and has remained its shape even thru a variety of Michigan weather conditions. Although the mat looks nice under my Weber charcoal grill as pictured, it is small and really serves no real purpose other than making the area defined and clean. If the mat was larger it may be a product I would recommend to friends.
