It a great product but I should have looked closer at the description. I get this for 10 Year old and it was a more labor intensive build then I ever thought. It has a paper skin and wood parts. Luckily he has his Dad to build it with him and they are do it 30 minutes at a time.
This is a wonderful kit. The plane turns out beautifully. Guillows is probably the best quality kit around. I highly recommend them. The beginner Guillows kits aren't as good quality. But they are for beginners and the price reflects that. This kit is for someone who has already done at least one beginner kit. The instructions aren't always clear. But if you'd have done a beginner kit then you know what to do. The pieces are cut much cleaner and crisper then the lesser kits. I use gorilla superglue for my kits. Less waiting around. These kits aren't easy and most people quit half way through. Try not to loose motivation. I also suggest getting a little airbrush kit. You'll be glad you did. After all that work you'll want to make it look nice. I use the beginner kits for fliers and these kits and up for models. But it's up to you. Everyone who has seen my planes love them and I only use Guillows. Next I have a giant Corsair to do. Can't wait.
This kit makes a great park flyer with an E-Flite 280 brushless motor 10 amp ESC and 450ma 3 cell battery. You will need to modify and beef up the structure to accommodate the electronics and battery etc. Built light this airplane will fly reasonably slow. With the stock airfoil don't expect much inverted performance. With the other kits in this series you can have quite the simulated battle. I increased the size of the wing spars, redesigned the wing center section, planked the whole fuselage, built balsa replacements for the plastic parts except the canopy and covered with the supplied tissue. Paint was nitrate dope followed by enamel paints. I left off the landing gear . Used ailerons, elevator and throttle with two 7 gram servos and light Spektrum receiver. Came in about 11 ounces all up weight. This plane will fly hands off at about 1/2 throttle. Looks very realistic in the air. Very versatile kit.
typical of most stamped balsa kits. many hours of fun and satisfaction
