These are flexible enough not to cause damage, but firm enough to clean. In very tight spaces betwen teeth they may not go through, but waxed floss can work in these cases. At its most basic an advanced toothpick. At its more advanced use a well-designed and well-made extra tool for clean teeth. Don't fret if you bend a few while you get used to using them. I can not give an expert dental opinion but I personally use them as an adjunct to floss (not all the time together and sometimes apart from each other ) and feel good using them. Despite some negative publcity about flossing (and I would assume also these type of picks) ,my experienced dentist and dental hygienst strongly advise thorough cleaning with such tools along with careful and regular tooth brushing.
I can't live without these soft picks. The ones with wires poke my gums and rust. These are the perfect answer to those of us who have wide spaces. They get the little stuff that even floss does not touch. Luv them but I wish they were in stores so I could buy as needed instead of having to internet shop. Oh well.
GUM soft-picks saved my gums! I had poor gum health almost my entire life until I discovered these GUM picks. My dentist used to require me to visit her 3 times a year for regular cleanings, but since I started using GUM picks a few years ago my cleanings have become so much easier and my dentist told me on a recent visit that I only need to see her twice a year for cleanings going forward. Thank you, GUM picks!
Wow, I hate flossing. My teeth are tight, but plenty of room at the gum line for food to catch so flossing was important but difficult. These things are great, they get into those gum line spaces without having to force floss between the teeth. Massage my gums also. Actually kind of addicting.
No matter how well I brush and floss, the soft pick quite often finds that remaining food particle. I have numerous caps and bridges, so this is very important. If I'm careful I'm able to wash the pick after using it, and use it many more times. I took off one star because if I'm not careful it bends too easily at the neck, just below the green pick area.
My hygienist recommended these and I was surprised that there was so much space between my teeth to clean. Floss is not easy to get between some of my teeth and I thought it was tight all the way down but in fact, there is a lot of tooth surface that is below the top margins. These little guys get in there no problem!
Been using the "Wider Spaces" version for some time. The section of the "Pick" between the bristles and the flat handle needs to be reshaped so that it is less prone to bending/breaking. When using the "Pick" between molars, it's often difficult to avoid bending that section of the "Pick". Once it's bent, it has to be discarded for a new one.
I was introduced to Gum Soft Picks for Wider Spaces by my dentist and they serve my needs very well. However, after on purchase I was not longer able to find them at my local stores. I was pleased to purchase them on line. The larger size works very well due to wider contacts between some of my teeth. The use allows me to maintain cleanliness and good gum health.
The Gum Soft Dental Picks are a very good product but the packaging is just plain awful! 1. Once you open the package you need to be careful and put them inside another container or box because if you knock them over the open (or even a semi-open) container you are likely to see them spill onto whatever (unclean, unsanitary) surface they land on. 2. The Gum Soft Dental Picks are attached one to another in a row of 10 attached soft dental picks. This means, if, after eating, you want to use the soft dental pick, you have to first wash your hands so that you don't transfer any dirt, food material, or bacteria from your hands to the 10 picks attached in a row. 3. Dear StarSunGum: Please talk to your Quality Control Teams and REDESIGN your package. Separate all the picks. Create a small window that opens do that ONE PICK at a time Falls into a slot where you can pick it out. It BETTER YET, create a "TIC TAC" like box where your buyers and users can shake out ONE PICK AT A TIME!
The quality of these has changed recently (as of 2026). They now suddenly get super flimsy and bend in half and don't hold after using between just a few teeth. I totally noticed the change. Super disappointing. Not a go to for me anymore. Why ruin a great product just to save a few bucks. You will lose out in the long run GUM.
