I really liked how the embellishment was cute. The durability was good; they did not break when I put them through some pretty hearty sandwiches. I found that the embellishment was plastic, so I do not know that that is really eco-friendly, but the picks themselves were wooden, so that should break down in the landfill.

The length and the strength of the wood is good for some food, not others. For some craft projects they are great. A major concern is the ease with which the bead can come off. This is a potential danger if there are young children in the area where they are used/available to use. It also could be a potential problem if used on food, The bead could get mixed in with the food, eaten and possibly swallowed or chewed and break a tooth. I will not use them on food or near food unless I first remove the bead(s). Please beware of safety issues when using this product.
