Gutermann Natural Cotton Thread, Solids, 876 Yds

Very pleased with the gutermann thread. I have had great results in all the sewing of my quilting projects. I am happy with the quality of the thread.

Good value. Thread is strong and evenly spun on spool. Feeds through my machine without issue. Does shed a lot and I get a good deal of shed buildup around my bobbin and feed-dogs while quilting.

There I was, 10 years old standing in the little homely quilt shop with my mother and family friend, an avid quilter for many years. She was excitedly going to be teaching the next generation the dying art of quilting. I was 10 years old, picking out the fabrics for my first of what would become many quilts. The color selection never fails. Rarely have I ever run out of thread due to the large quantities readily available, and affordable. Quality I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of Gutermann 100% Cotton. 16 years later and I am still treasuring the quilt I made from that very first attempt. Whether I am loading a spool into my sewing machine to piece a quilt together, or threading it through my needle to hand sew a binding on as my last step, I can trust that every stitch will hold through wear, tear, and time. Gutermann produces a 100% long staple, fine 50 weight 100% cotton thread with a silky finish. Color Selection With 393 colors of varying solid shades available you would be hard pressed to not find one that matches your project. Top stitching? Not a problem. How about hemming a dress? They have the color in the shade and tone you need. Several times I have actually had the problem of finding too many shades that match closely to my project and can't decide which one I'd prefer to use. Quantity Selection Gutermann produces a few quantities of the 100% Cotton thread. This makes it convenient for the type of project you are doing. For smaller projects or top stitching where it is important to match color and shade they offer 110 yards. For large projects such as piecing a quilt, or even several quilts, they typically offer up to 1,000 yards sold in most fabric shops. Commercially Gutermann sells up to 3,281 yard spools available in select locations. Cost Typically, Gutermann 100% Cotton tends to be a little above the middle of the road in price. Depending on where you buy, and the quantity you buy determines the price. I find for Gutermann's competition they run barely higher but for the quality of the product I'm getting I have no problem spending the, at most, extra few dollars for a spool. Machine Use Lastly, but absolutely not least, is the effect it has on my machine. If you have spent a lot of money like I have on a quality machine, you want to be aware of the type of thread you're putting through it. Have you ever opened up your machine to replace the bobbin and there is fuzz and dust everywhere? It is absolutely horrible for the well-oiled mechanics of that pricey machine you have. The last thing you want is to gunk it up and have to spend even more on repairs. Since Gutermann has a 100% long staple, there are less fibers fraying off to create dust. This means a stronger thread that won't break from the friction of your machine, and won't gunk it up.

I use this brand of thread, usually can only get at fabric store. So was happy to find it here! Good quality thread, nice colors available.

Good quality and fewer fibers in your bobbin area from this thread unlike others. Selection of colors are best when in stock. Size of spool depending on your project are available at Walmart for a good price.

nice thread. however for the price i expected little bigger.
