It was a mistake
I knew it wasn't a high quality piece of furniture but after trying to assemble it I realized why it was on sale. The pre-assembled parts weren't correct and the spring mechanism that holds the desk open when I went to fasten it the screws just snapped off into the wood so unless you are good at putting furniture together and have your own nailers and glue you may not want to purchase this.
