Firstly, the measurements of the shaft and sleeve loading lengths are not accurate in the description. The description stated 43.5 inches from collar to collar; I measured 47 and I'm so glad! I almost returned this before I even opened it because it's impossible to find a rack that narrow to use it with. I will compare this packaging to the CAP barbell, since I also received that. This barbell was packed far more impressively, nice solid heavy duty package except for the ends which need more reinforcements. The ends of my barbell are dinged up a little and the chrome coating chipping off. Reinforce the ends with some added cardboard and your packaging will be perfect! The CAP barbell may as well have been placed in a paper towel roll for shipping. It's absolutely shredded and demolished; the barbell is dinged and scratched everywhere. I laughed so hard at that package on my doorstep. This bar seems very nice! Nice smooth bearings. I don't really mind the dings for the price. I have no doubt this bar will be lasting; I'm glad I purchased it. And given the way it shipped, would hands down choose this bar over CAP's.
