It's a respectful and lovely sentiment on a pretty card. While it is very sad to need one, it helps a person connect with others who have lost someone and it may serve some people as a comforting keepsake so it's well worth it.

The price for these cards is out of control. You spend between $5-$8 for a card, $5 for a bag and tissue and this is all before you even bought the gift. Most people are opting out of cards these days unless it is a wedding.
