Hamel Grade A 100% Pure Maple Syrup (From the Sap of Maple Trees) was better than I thought. Since the price was right, I did not have high hopes. The Maple sap is the raw, watery liquid harvested directly from male trees. Maple syrup is a concentrated, sweet product created by boiling down maple sap to remove excess water. So, sap is the unprocessed ingredient and syrup is the processed, concentrated end result. Which, in this case, was delicious.
I'll never use anything else. Period. I grew up getting maple syrup from the tree sap. It made me nostalgic. It's light, not heavy and it didn't raise my A1C glucose because you can pour it light for a big flavor. I add to my sweet potatoes, and to sweet and sour Asian dishes also.
So happy I found this HAMEL pure maple syrup. I'm a senior on a fixed income and I live by my budget and I was excited to be able to afford and have this pure maple syrup. I eat gluten-free and recently I've started eating amazing waffles with my gluten-free flour. It had been a long time since I had prepared waffles. The syrup has a wonderful taste. Definitely recommend this maple syrup.
The fact that there is only about an ounce left in the bottle when it has been in my house for maybe a week, speaks volumes. Great taste, great color, real maple syrup - which is coming from a Vermonter who knows maple syrup!
I used to be a New York maple syrup snob, and while, I still won't buy Canadian or Vermont syrup, this midwestern product is so much less expensive than my favorite, it's now my go-to for waffles pancakes and oatmeal.
I am from the east coast so I know maple syrup. I had been ordering a more expensive brand from New Hampshire, but I like this brand much more. I find the flavor and consistency of this syrup is smooth and not overwhelmingly sweet. Its delicious!
Great flavored Maple syrup at a pretty good price. Careful with shipping though, I ordered two bottles and only one survived the shipping experience ... but Walmart issued an immediate credit for the damaged bottle.
Really cringe to report that I looked into this further after buying it a couple times and it wasn't consistent, this time I looked further than the website which I usually do but the word organic threw me and "family farm" which usually is represented with veracity from the state of Minnesota. I suspect even that digging further would lead to more disappointment but I looked far enough to know that I will definitely take my business elsewhere. Thee consistency was watery it was so thin this time, I could tell it wasn't 100% tree sap, and tasted like sugar instead of a good syrup. I am not sure how they can say organic, never heard of an organic sugar beet, which are harvested heavily in the area I live in. What these tricky people do is take a sugar beet syrup and mix with the tree sap syrup and in my eyes it just ruins whatever goodness was there. The Price is right but I would never trust this or buy it again. I do not mind paying extra for the delicious kind of grade A 100% Vermont maple syrup. I will use this up in baking and save the jar after throwing the label and marking it a thumbs down in my book.
One of the glass bottles broke when delivered, syrup all over my entrance floor. Not well packed from the warehouse. The second bottle was ok but I think water got into it bc it was frothy. I was reimbursed.
This maple syrup has a very nice light flavor you can taste the maple in it it has very good absorption on pancakes . I mixed up some butter and syrup my mother used to make for me after school . Maple syrup is a very healthy products .
