So far I have made corn bread, mash potatoes, coffee cake, and sweet dinner rolls during the time I have owned the Hamilton Beach Stand Mixer... I have to admit that when I first unwrapped the Hamilton Beach Mixer I had my doubts especially when I found out how the attachments were hooked up... I thought to myself that this was going to break within a matter of months if not weeks... After using the Hamilton Beach for the last 2 weeks I am confident that I have a durable peace of equipment on my hands... There have been times when the Hamilton Beach had bogged down, but this has also happened to me with my old 300watt Kitchen Aid Mixer, and my mother's 350watt Kitchen Aid Mixer when kneading bread... My suggestion for this particular machine is not to knead any dough that calls for more than 3 1/2 to 4 cups of flour at a time, just to be on the safe side... Other than that I have no problems with the Hamilton Beach and would like to give another review after owning and using it after a six month period… Thank You
I bought this mixer a couple of months ago because I have arthritis and it is difficult for me to make cookie dough and bread dough, and I love to bake cookies and bread. My first time using, I made yeast rolls, because they take the most out of me. I used my own recipe that I have been using for 30+ years and this little mixer did all the work for me!!!! I was truly impressed, but still wanted to test it with cookie dough, and I was overjoyed that I can continue to make cookies without all the pain. I am truly impressed! I was hesitant at first, especially after reading some of the negative reviews, but knowing Wal-Mart and the purchases I have made with them in the past, I knew if I had a problem, I could return it. Now I can tell you, that will not happen!!!! Thank you for putting this little machine on sale so I could afford it. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income so I have to be careful when and where I spend my money. I wish I had bought this mixer years ago. Love, Love, Love it.
I had to finally retire my 1956 model Sunbeam Mixmaster because it was losing power. I looked and looked at different brands of mixers. After deciding I wanted a planetary mixer I read reviews. This model seemed to fit the need. I have had it for over two weeks and here at Christmastime I love to make sweet breads and of course sugar cookies. This machine has done wonderfully so far! I have made around 16 loaves, and 4 doz. cookies so far. My friends and neighbors will be blessed! For a fraction of the cost of a Kitchenaid I have a stand mixer that is amazing. Gonna make some chocolate chip cookies now.
This is the first stand mixer I have ever had. Of course I wanted a Kitchenaid, but after reading the other reviews for this mixer, I ordered it. It is a great value. Some complaints I have heard of the Kitchenaid is that it leaves unmixed dry ingredients on the bottom of the bowl. This bowl is designed with a raised center, which eliminates this problem. I definitely recommend this product.
This is my first stand-up mixer. As I am physically challenged it is difficult to hold a hand mixer and a bowl at the same time. I was dubious to buy a less expensive model as I thought it would not meet my needs, as I cook and bake a lot. Love my little red machine because: Powerful motor (my hand mixer, sadly can't stir 4 cream cheese packets all at once). First time adding flour it flew out of the bowl. That's power. Sleek design while not taking up much space. The bottom rubber really stick to counter. Cost for this kind of quality makes me happy. I did something right for once.
I ordered this on a Thursday afternoon and it was delivered by FedEx on Saturday! If you are ordering this thinking that it will be as fast and as heavy duty as the Kitchen-Aid, don't. It is a 6 speed and will not beat as fast as the 12 speeds but is an excellent buy. If you bake for a living you should probably go with a 12 speed but for the regular home baker this is a wonderful little mixer. I have mixed pretzel rolls, brownies, cookies, muffins and a cake with this in the few short weeks since purchase! The pretzel rolls called for 4 cups of flour and never once had a problem with stalling and it did not move around at all....the suction cup feet work great. My kids love to put the ingredients into the bowl and turn it on to watch it mix. Very light weight. The only thing I don't like about it, is how the attachments come off....you pull them straight down and sometimes that results in slinging batter on the counter or banging you hand! But for apprx. $70 that can be overlooked!
I purchased the unit to make marshmallows, which are test to any mixer, as they get tougher as they whip up (for 10-12 minutes). While I was waiting the arrival of my mixer/ being shipped, I borrowed my neighbors Kitchenaid to make a few batches in the meantime. The motor overheated and began to smell like burnt wire. I was not impressed, as the Kitchenaid was $200 more at the store!!! Just goes to show: Apparently it's not "all in a name", or an overrated pricepoint ! On the contrary, my Hamilton Beach outshines, and outdoes the opponent, outright. Just keeps going strong. No overheating, no burning smell. No lag on the motor. I can't say enough and how happy I am with this product.
I bought this mixer just before Christmas. I made my traditional sugar cookies among other things. The mixer did well until all the flour was put in the bowl. It began to rock or jump around. I only made 1 time the recipe, so I was kind of disappointed about that. I have only so far used the flat beater, so I can't say how well the other attachments work, but I would imagine just fine. All in all the mixer did what I wanted it to do, which was to make the mixing the dough easier for me and save my shoulder/wrist/hand the pain from manually mixing. I recommend it as an affordable stand mixer. It depends on your needs and price range. I like Hamilton Beach products and couldn't afford a Kitchen Aide, but it still did the job.
This worked fine but the selection dial was very poor. It did not lock in off position and randomly turned on, even when not in use. May have been a manufacturing flaw but I was concerned with the way the power dial is configured. Returned and upgraded.
I works OK, but I am very used to my Oster Kitchen Center, where the bowl turns and you have room to add your ingredients and scrape the bowl. I find that I sometimes have to stop the mixer to lift the head in order to add what I need. You also have to stop the mixer and lift the head in order to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl. And then it doesn't come very clean. I still had sugar stuck to the base of the bowl. It does work and will be fine in the interim, but I will be seeing if I can get the two broken gears fixed in my Oster. If you are used to the way this type of mixer works, then this would work very well for you. If not, then look elsewhere.
