Hamilton Beach the Scoop Single-Serve Coffee Maker, Model 49981A

Words cannot express how much I love this coffeemaker. It is so easy to use and the best part is the fact that the scoop is the filter. All you do is put your coffee in the scoop and add the amount of water that you need. It brews the coffee fast right in your cup, no paper filters to fight with and no carafe to clean. I have always used the regular coffee makers that used those awful paper filters that could slip and cause you to have a full pot of coffee grounds. The Scoop is such a wonderful product; it has made a big difference for me and how my coffee is brewed.

I was looking for a decent single cup coffee maker that did not take those little cups, you would be surprised at how hard it is to find one that is good quality and a reasonable price, this one is it. If you want to use your own coffee and make just 1 cup and not spend a lot of cash, your search is over, buy this and stop looking. Seriously, I am one who spend hours looking up reviews and price comparisons and I did your leg work for you, this even has two temperatures to brew at depending on the grind and strength you want from the brew.

The best single serve coffee maker out there. I did a lot of research on others before buying this one. This is a no hassle coffee maker. No smell. No much to wash or clean except for the scoop, the filter which I normally clean it with water. Seriously no hassle, no-maintenance coffee maker. Always use the Bold mode.

I live in a small cottage, so I needed a coffee maker that doesn't take up space. It took me a while to get it to taste just right, because I use to make 20 oz. cups in my Keurig (which broke, causing me to press "brew" 4-5 times to get one 20 ox. cup). I make the bigger size (14 oz) cup in the Hamilton Beach The Scoop Single-Serve Coffee maker, and I use the "bold" selection so the water flows through the coffee slower. I use much less coffee to make a cup. I like that you can hang the scoop/filter on the side of the maker to let it dry and to not misplace it. I also like the double filter. It barely leaves any grounds on the bottom (more like a tiny bit of coffee dust) in the bottom of my cup. I can drink all but a couple drops of the coffee. I'm currently using a very finely ground coffee, so I bet it wouldn't leave anything in the bottom of the cup if I used a more coarsely ground coffee. It brews quickly too.

I needed a single-serve coffee brewer for my piano studio. This meets my needs perfectly; it is small, simple, easy to clean, uses regular coffee grounds, has its own filter, and fits any mug I might choose to use. It shuts off as soon as the coffee is made, so I don't have to worry about it accidentally leaving it on. It dispenses right into my thermal mug that I like to use, which I then place the lid on it and I don't have to worry about spills. It cost more than I would have liked to spend, but there really was no other coffeemaker that I could find that had the exact features I needed. I expect that over time I will save enough money not buying special pods or filters so that the savings will offset the initial cost of the coffeemaker.

The Scoop Coffeemaker is awesome for making a single cup of coffee or tea! Tastes like it was brewed in a full pot, but quick and cheap---because I use my own coffee instead of expensive single pod. This is perfect for a single person or for the person who just wants one cup in the morning! Easy to use and easy to clean. I love it!

After much research, I purchased this coffeemaker to use when my brother visits. I drink decaf and he does not. If one of us was using the 12-cup coffeemaker, the other would have to wait or pour their coffee into a thermal carafe so the other of us could use the coffeemaker. Problem solved with "The Scoop". I love this coffeemaker. It is simple to use and performs exactly as stated in the user manual. The coffee is hot and tastes good. Clean up is a breeze. My only suggestion is to use a paper filter if you don't like a bit of "sludge" in your coffee. I cut little circles out of a larger filter and use it in the secondary filter underneath the filter basket and it works great. I have noticed that small filters are sold for making your own K-cups but my solution works just as well. I couldn't be happier with this coffeemaker.

This is functional and the coffee comes out tasting good. There are two baskets, one to filter the grounds and one just below, which catches some of the finer sediment, but a bit still gets through. The tray for the coffee cup only has two positions, level with the bottom, or flipped over, which equals about 3 inches. I use a gourmet, finer coffee so need to use the Bold brew, and it comes out just fine. I found, if I flip the tray over, to the highest setting, I cannot fit a regular coffee cup under it, and at the lower level, I have to use a tall travel mug, otherwise it splatters. But, with a couple adjustments, it works great!

It makes a great cup of coffee. My only disappointment is the amount of coffee it can make. I like to make enough coffee to have 2 small cups. Since this advertises as making a large travel cup, then I expected to be able to do this. Unfortunately, you are limited to a little less than a full travel cup, because of the amount of water you can use. The reservoir is too small. It will make an excellant cup of coffee, but it will be an average size cup.

I was hoping that this coffeemaker would work for me, but I was disappointed in the outcome of this machine. It did not brew the exact amount that it states, brews less than an 8oz cup and not the full 14oz cup that it states in the Demo or the booklet. The setting for the Bold taste for coffee didn't seem to be any more different/bolder than the regular brew button and I was a little worried when ever I would raise the little shelf to set my cup on because it was not level, the factory did not align this machine correctly. I ended up returning it. :-( I was very unhappy with this coffeemaker.
