Base ten blocks provide a visual and hands-on way to understand the foundation of our number system. Teaching regrouping (often called “borrowing”) using cubes, rods, and flats helps students make sense of addition and subtraction beyond 10 in a logical, concrete way. While many schools use 2D visuals or online models, physically holding and manipulating the pieces brings the concept to life. Understanding that the number 125 represents one hundred twenty-five units is a good start. But recognizing it as 1 hundred block, 2 tens rods, and 5 ones units deepens that understanding. At that point, numbers are no longer just symbols—they become quantities that are built, broken apart, and recombined with purpose.

I was expecting these pieces to be made out of foam but they are actually plastic which makes it much more durable. This set works well for my 7yr old homeschoolers.

This is an awesome set to help with teaching place value to the hundreds place, using Base-10 manipulatives. I only wish that it allowed for higher numbers, as this tops out at 999.

Bought this for my grandson that is homeschooled. It has helped him to understand the 100's place so much better. He was struggling to get it before we tried this.
