This allows me to sleep at night without fearing a fire from a heat lamp. So glad I found this. Of course, it's not completely fireproof. Nothing is, but it seems much safer and has great reviews. I have 4 girls ( 3 weeks old) under it when they get a chill, but I really don't see fitting 15 chicks under there, unless there's a larger size. And you see from the photo how they like to use it. Tent the top with cardboard, or lay a sheet of kitchen plastic wrap over top to make it an easy clean up.
I bought this over a month ago and have used it continuously since, it's easy to use , easy to clean and the chicks love it. I bought this as well as a heat lamp but choose this for safety reasons. I used it on my first flock of chicks and am now using it on the 3 new babies I bought yesterday (chicken math is real) the only thing I can complain about is the cute feathers got nasty within days and I threw them out. I highly recommend this product.
I have 2 of these and love them! They are a fantastic alternative to heat lamps, and my chicks seem to like it better. Setting it up is super easy, as is adjusting it as your chicks grow. The box includes feathers and tape to attach them around the brooder plate, I assume to make the "faux mommy" seem more real for the babies, but I don't use. I've never had issues with sick chicks from getting too cold, missing feathers on heads/backs from contact with the heated surface, etc. I like that it has a red power light that's visible from the top so I know it's on. The one I bought 3 years ago (that's still going strong with zero issues!) came with an anti-roosting cone, which I wish was still an option. I had to it buy separately on Amazon for this latest one. My only complaint is that Walmart sells these for more than double what Amazon does. I ended up returning here and bought on there, and the difference paid for the cone plus some. Usually the prices are pretty comparable for the same item on both sites, so not sure why this particular one isn't.
Our little Laka loves it.
Worked very well an the chicks seemed to love it!
Awesome, literally a life saver!!
I recently bought baby chicks and a heat lamp with a clip. I had to do some crazy stuff to hang it and it felt soooo unsafe. I ordered this to replace the heat lamp and it has worked like a charm. I have adjusted the height 2 times in a week and a half and there is still plenty room to grow more. I no long worry my house will catch on fire with a heat lamp. Thank you!
Great product raised five baby chickens underneath there and still going strong
provides very little heat
Barely got above room temperature.
