Excellent bit

SWAChick December 18, 2014

My horse seems much happier with this bit. I went from a D-ring snaffle to the happy mouth loose ring and I like the fit and the comfort it provides my Thoroughbred. I feel like I get more response and I'm easier on his mouth.

Happy Mouth is exactly that!

mom2rugged April 24, 2016

I bought this for my Appendix QH moving up to Preliminary eventing. I was looking for a soft bit to use in the off-season and a friend let me borrower theirs. My horse was frothy and happy from the first time he had it in his mouth. I've decided to switch this bit to my everyday flat/dressage work even during the competition year since he is responding so nicely.

My horse LOVES this bit

ThoroughbredsRock22 December 6, 2017

So glad I gave this bit a try! Have not had any issues with the plastic getting sharp, but my horse doesn't chew on the bit very much except when I first put his bridle on and even then he's pretty gentle. This bit allows me to keep a soft contact without backing him off too much, and the price point is fantastic. Will definitely purchase again, even if this one eventually gets chewed up a bit.

Great as a first bit

breeder August 14, 2014

Purchased this bit for a 2 year old who was fussy with a regular snaffle and needed something a tad softer right now. I don't know how it will hold up since I am just using it for in-hand shows and we've only been to two.

Great bit

DAG1 June 7, 2011

I purchased this bit because my 5yr old mare was sensitive to a regular snaffle and a bit heavy in a traditional rubber snaffle. She loves this bit and it has proven to be a nice middle ground between the aforementioned bits. I have only had it for a month so I cannot comment on long term wear, but I understand from other users that they hold up well.

So far, so good

Mego December 22, 2016

My upper level dressage horse is extremely sensitive & finicky about bits. I generally ride him in a double, but like to change into a snaffle on occasion. We've experimented with about 18 different snaffles...after riding in this one about 3 times, he seems happier & quieter in his mouth. So, nothing conclusive, but it seems to be a nice bit.

I bought this for my green pony who has a very soft mouth. He loves it and is happy to have something soft in his mouth. Only drawback is I've had it less than a month and it's already got chew marks on it from him. I accepted when I bought it that I would have to buy him a new one Every once in a while because the plastic on all of the happy mouth bits gets sharp once it has been chewed. But the bit is affordable and it is worth it if he is happy.

Somewhat disappointed

SueV May 29, 2012

I purchased this bit for my new 5 year old mare who is the "Princess and the Pea" reincarnated. She was happy in it the first time I rode her in it, but once she chewed it, it developed rough spots and she no longer tolerated it. I have her in a rubber mouth snaffle now and it is working well.

Didn't work

Donuthorse February 13, 2011

The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because I believe this would have worked if my horse didn't have a thick tongue. I didn't research enough before I bought this. Don't use this on horses with thick tongues. It's thick itself, so it's going to be this bulky bit & your horse will fuss & gape. But if your horse doesn't have a thick tongue, try it :)! Oh, the way you can tell if your horse has a thick tongue is if you lift his lip and his tongue is bulging out past his teeth. I also read that Tennessee Walkers have thick tongues. My boy is a TWHx Rocky MTN cross. :)

okay purchase

Houdini101 April 24, 2013

It's a nice bit except for the fact that I was only able to use it once before my horse took a chuck out of the plastic. Now we have to get a new one. :-(
