Bought this for my granddaughter and she loves it. We did put foam on the wood part of the bookshelf seeing it does hang a little into her sleeping area.

Overall we like this bed! My toddler especially loves it! There are some minor drawbacks that lead to the 4 star instead of 5 star score: - you cannot switch the orientation of the solid wall side. So it's either gotta be along a right side or the solid wall side will be at the foot instead of the head - there are a ton of screws all over it and the builder didn't think to make them white so they don't ruin the look of the bed. We'll have to buy small screw covers cause there are a lot of them, - the center lift screws for the main base of the bed were not included. Thankfully we had some random ones lying around from other build projects, or the bed would be unstable. - it's a bit creaky and loud - some scratches on the wood

The build required getting out a speed square, a tape measure, a center punch, a long phillips head screwdriver, and a couple bit ratchets. The drawers, drawer stops, slats, side container and shelf are all held together with the shortest wood screws. I will have to go to the hardware store to get sturdier brackets, longer machine screws, longer wood screws, all to make this bed more secure, and a 2x4 I will have to cut to size for the matress support. Several pieces had no marks or pilot holes to start these screws, so that I had to make a best guess judgement on where to put slats and drawer mounting brackets. There are no outside center frame supports. Some frame pieces had holes drilled wrong. The full size mattress I purchased for it is a standard correct size. On another full sized bed I just purchased for my other daughter , the bed was a little long. On this bed, the very same mattress is barely fitting in it. I had to keep the mattress in the vacuum sealed bag to put it in this frame for two reasons. If I had opened the bag before putting the mattress on this frame, we would have either had to disassemble a large part of the bed frame to get it in, or it wasn't going in , and once it is in, it isn't coming out unless you disassemble the same large part of the bed frame to get it out. Putting on a fitted sheet is going to be a pain. The only reason I purchased this in the first place is because no one had this bed style in a better quality, even at a higher price I was willing to pay. My 21 one year old, now senior in college, daughter wanted a new bed for her room since she has only ever shared a bunk bed with her younger sister or slept on a futon in the other room after our oldest child moved out. She is an artist and wanted this bed so that she could paint it to look like a shack or cabin in the jungle to match her jungle themed bedroom she painted. If not for that, we would have gone in a completely different direction. Also, make sure you measure your room if it is tight. It takes up a lot more cubic feet than a standard full sized bed. As for the max weight this will hold, don't put more than two small children on it at once, or one adult. I believe anything over 275-300 lbs. might test its limitations. This is not a Walmart issue. This is also sold on Amazon, eBay, Wayfair, and other on-line market places, who also didn't have a better version of this for sale in a reasonable price, and I mean up to $1,000-$1,500 reasonable. Walmart can't sell it if no one is making it. This would be a 5 star bed if the issues were corrected, and, yes, people would be willing to pay a higher price on Walmart.com.
