Harry Connick Jr's voice flows are smoothly as fine red wine in a chilled glass, or perhaps a light silk bedsheet on a Summer clothesline. The particular standouts for this CD, to me are "All the Way" and "Can't help falling in love with you". I just love the new spin on these old familiar songs. Harry Connick Jr may be singing older songs, that we all know well, but nothing is bland or boring on this CD. All the songs are fresh and new. and Harry's voice has never been better. Ever. His voice just makes you want to lay down and sigh. To sum up. Old songs. New way Same great voice
This to me was so nice to listen too. I enjoyed the twist on some of the old classics.Found this to be a great easy listening .great album to own so you wont be dissapointed if you buy it
Listening to Your Songs is like stepping into a time machine. Harry Connick Jr. does not loose the general essence of the music but rather gives it an upbeat modern feel. Enjoying the cd has been a great way to lift my spirits. I find myself leaving it on for long periods of time as background music. I know that it may not be the most modern music available but who says that something old has to be bad?
I didn't know a thing about Harry Connick, Jr., when I received this album to review, so I had no expectations. I've enjoyed it! It's full of familiar classics, which I liked. I like to play it while I go about my day - it's soothing and relaxing. There are no big artistic changes made to the songs, which I appreciated, and Connick's voice is pleasant without being especially distinctive or distracting. The "big band" sound of the backgrounds was familiar and calming as well. Recommended.
I really like Harry Connick Jr. and the way he sings. He sings a great variety of different songs which most everyone can recognize and most likely sing along to. His voice is so soft and soothing. It's a great way to relax at the end of the day.
This is a collection remakes of easy listening favorites. I recommend you kick off your shoes and shut out the world when you put this on. It will have you drifting off in no time! The last three songs are quite enjoyable and have a more original feel to them.
Harry Connick's Your Songs is a smooth relaxing mix of music. Nice mixture of old standards with some new twists. Some Enchanting Evening was quite nice. Hearing Close to You song by a man with a different arrangement was quite nice. Good CD from a fellow New Orleanian
Whether he’s singing old classics, Disney tunes or any other music, Harry Connick Jr. adds class and sophistication to whatever he puts his smooth voice to. His vocal styling breathes new life into the songs he performs on his new CD “Your Songs”. From the first to the last, this is a CD that is well worth listening to. Connick shines in his version of Frank Sinatra‘s “All the Way” and adds finesse to the well known “Some Enchanted Evening”. Connick also includes wonderful versions of Nat King Cole’s “Mona Lisa” and Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love With You,” among others from The Beatles to The Carpenters to Elton John. Accompanied by a full jazz big band and string orchestra, Harry Connick Jr. provides a real listening pleasure with this collection of tunes. Whether you’re looking for a soundtrack to a romantic evening or some light listening to relax to, this CD is the perfect complement for either. There’s not one song on here that makes me want to skip over it and the music is such that I can listen to it on repeat play and never tire of it. Some of the original versions were songs that I never much cared for, but with Connick’s voice crooning, I find myself loving them all. The songs have the perfect sound to ease the spirit and help one unwind after a long day. If you’re a fan of Harry Connick Jr., easy listening or big band jazz sounds, this is the CD for you. Even lovers of the original versions of these songs will be hard pressed to find a reason to dislike the tunes.
I am a huge Harry Connick, Jr. fan and was a little underwhelmed by this new release. Although the music is pleasant to listen to (as always with Harry), it is nothing spectacular. I have always enjoyed his upbeat jazzy songs and even in these remixed versions of older songs, I am not all that inspired. If you enjoy these particular songs, then you will enjoy the CD overall, but if you are expecting the normal Harry Connick Jr music, you will be disappointed.
I love Harry Connick Jr. more as an actor and a humanitarian than as a singer. I certainly recognize his beautiful voice and his talent, but I often find his song selection too "old-fashioned" for my taste. I have to say that I really feel that way with this particular CD. From the first song to the last, all I could think of was that my mother would love this CD. Harry's vocals are smooth and the background music is very quiet. This is definitely easy listening. I suggest previewing the songs before buying the CD.
