I am familiar with Channel Lock pliers, so this was a pleasant surprise. How easily is adjusted to the material I wanted to clamp. I used it several times already. It also works as a pliers would normally work. The quick release took a learning curve, but if you just slide your hand to the open end and squeeze the red tipped lever it opens nicely without dropping the pliers. If you try to open it with the other hand it makes it more difficult (don't ask me how I know this!) Feels good in the hand. The adjustable knob in the center changes the power it takes to shut and lock the pliers. A tool I will enjoy working with.
The HART 10-inch Auto Adjust Locking Pliers are made to hold up to any of your needs. I love the auto adjust setting which is a great feature on these 10 inch pliers. I will always use these instead of my old vice grips. Go ahead and purchase these pliers because you will be glad you did.
These Hart pliers are durable. It's made out of high grade steel. What I also like about them is that it automatically adjustment to whatever thickness I need it on. It has a center knob that I can easily set the clamp and a easy release lever. I can't see these pliers ever rusting in the long run.
I was impressed after unwrapping the pliers as they were heavy and felt like they would last a long time. After using them several times I am impressed with their ability and ease of use. I would highly recommend Heart 10-inch Auto Adjust Locking Pliers for your toolbox.
Before even trying the pliers I noticed the heft of the item: Just like the welding clamps I used to work with in the past. The pliers are extremely well-designed and the extra-long rubberized release lever is a welcome touch making release a one-handed operation. There is a small adjusting screw to vary and set tension that is safely concealed when the clamp is closed. I experimented with various settings on several layers of steel and wood. It was very convenient to release from one then go to the next without having to fool around with adjustments. I had no scientific means of measuring the clamping force on assorted thicknesses but a "pull test" seemed to indicate items were clamped with the same amount of pressure each time. I would highly recommend these clamping pliers particularly to anyone in the mechanical or metalworking trades. It would also be a handy tool box addition for DIYers.
These (Vice Grips) Locking Pliers should have been here years ago. Using the turn screw adjustment for size and metal texture could be a little aggravating not to mention a little time consuming. I was so amazed to try these new Auto Adjust Locking Pliers. Similar sizes, no adjustments needed. These pliers are heavy duty and I do believe they can handle most tough jobs. Anyone who needs the help of (Vice Grips) Adjustable Locking Pliers will love these. ( Sorry for no video, it present only snap shots with a large tablet.)
You can never have enough tools in your collection and this pair of Hart locking pliers is one to add. This is different than your regular pair of vise grips but acts in a similar manner. You still adjust a screw but this one is for pressure. The pliers have an auto locking feature that is faster and better than the old style of vise grips. The spring is heavy duty and feels like it will last a very long time. It took me a few minutes to figure it out since there are no instructions. I would recommend this tool be added to your tool box at work or home.
The auto adjusting feature on these can be handy at times. One handed release. Opens very wide, so two hands will be required for closing. There is a small tension adjustment screw in the inner mechanism to give more tension. Try them on different size bolts to know your range of sizes while still having the tension required for the task. Getting to know them is the biggest part of getting the best performance out these.
This would be awesome if my hands were not too small to operate the pliers with a single hand. When the jaws of the pliers are opened enough to place on whatever you are trying to lock onto, the handles are way too far apart to use single handily. To me, having to use two hands kind of defeats the purpose of auto-adjust locking pliers that should be able to grab onto various sized objects quickly. I am not sure even large-handed people would be able to manage it. I've looked around at other auto-adjust/auto-grip locking pliers and they all appear to be made by the same manufacture. These were the cheapest I could find of those. Also, I could only find these in the 10" size. A 6 or 8 inch might be more manageable.
The blue easy release handle is great but, this new kind of locking pliers feels off because they are heavier than the old kind. They are not will balanced. The tiny screw to change the tightness of the grip is in the center which makes it kind of a pain to get to and if you don't have it really tight it may fall off due to it weight. The size is good but i will not use it on finished wood because it will cause dents and possibly brakes in the wood. This is definitely not a tool i would buy online, rather go chevk it out in the store because these are not your daddy's vice grips.
