Works as expected and provides the necessary heat to melt solder like butter.
HART battery powered SOLDERING IRON works with HART 20V battery. Pretty fast getting hot enough to be ready to work, does not drain battery. This is a small lightweight device that can be used for any wiring and electronic soldering works. Especially it is valuable to work at remote places that have no power yet.
Very well made cordless soldering iron. You will need a battery for it. Luckily my husband had one that fit. It worked very well for him when soldering some small projects. It seems to be very durable and should last for a long time. Highly recommend this cordless soldering iron!
This Hart 20 volt battery operated soldering iron is just what every DIYer needs around his shop. It gets hot fast and works for an extended period with one battery. I used it for soldering backup camera wiring in my driveway. I would recommend this iron for on the go repairs of all sorts of things. Forget those wiring caps and do it the right way, permanently. It will even shrink heat warp to make your wiring jobs professional. I recommend this, even though the battery and charger does not come with it.
excellent iron for a hobbyist. could be used for DIY, hobby, and occasional use. I have several Hart tools now, and I have been pleased with all of them. I love that you can interchange the batteries with all of their tools. In general i would have a hard time not recommending this to someone who is either serious about learning soldering or just needs a new kit that is reasonably priced to get some stuff done.
The HART 40 Watt Soldering Iron is a great addition to my tools and I wish it had been available when I was younger as it saves so much time and is capable of going anywhere and as long as the 20 volt battery is charged ( battery and charger sold separately ) no electricity or extension cords are needed and the iron comes with a 3 foot attached cord. To use simply attach the battery and place the iron in the holder then push the blue power button on top of the base. It has an LED light in front of the power button that flashes quickly while heating and when it is at maximum temperature the LED glows solid on. It heats up to a maximum 900 degrees quickly and the first time I used it I timed it and from blinking LED to solid LED took 1 minute and 4 seconds. When turned off the LED blinks slowly until the iron is cooled down which takes about 10 minutes then it turns off. It will also turn off automatically after ten minutes of use to prevent overheating the tip and also prevent forgetting it is on. The hart soldering iron works great and heats up enough to smoothly melt several sizes of solder and comes with a limited 3 year warranty. Replacement tips are sold separately and easily replaced with the tool-less tip change feature. Please remember to keep the iron in the holder when not in use.
It's not a bad soldering iron, it get hot, works consistently, and not a power hog. The only complaint is that it's a little bulky or awkward to be carrying around different locations. Only because of way the holder is mounted. If there was a carrying case for it, it would go with me more often.
This Hart Soldering gun is definitely a step in the right direction. It's nice that it's a more mobile version of the classic soldering gun. I would consider this more of a mobile soldering workstation, because it is a bit bulky with the battery and all. But it is very well made and heats up super fast. One battery will last all day soldering whatever you need and it will still have plenty of charge left. I was using it on sold car wiring harnesses that I was replacing and the finished work looks much better than the factory work, so I definitely recommend this port for all you soldering needs.
I like that it's available. There is a big need for off-grid power tools. I'm glad that Hart is getting involved. It's the main reason I started buying Hart. Keep it up. As for the soldering iron itself, It would be nice if it had an adjustable temperature control. And, maybe later, add a higher wattage one.
To be honest I had to return it. I don't know how it works as a hot iron. I bought it because it says you can work on electronics with it, but when I opened it I saw it had no temperature control. So you can not do electronic work with it. At 900°F you will burn holes in the copper or melt the board. Electrical wire soldering maybe but in all my time under the hood I never needed a bench iron for that. Jewelry probably works as well as any iron in it's class. But for my purposes it was no good and I hope they fix it in another model.
