I purchased this jig saw because my other battery powered red saw couldn't hold the blade. It delivered on time and I used it same day. The low price has scared me off in the past, but now I will have no worries about a Hart battery powered tool!
I HEART MY HART TOOLS!!! I am not being paid to say this. I am just a satisfied customer. I have completely remodeled my house and completed many personal projects and I haven't been let down by any of the many tools yet. This jigsaw made some incredible blanket holders that now hang on the walls of my house. I look forward to using it in the future. Amazing product.
First, so happy Walmart carries this line of power tools! I have several other Hart items and they all work great!! This 20V Orbital Jigsaw is ideal for tight curves and precision cutting. The variable speed trigger gives you ultimate control to help you get the perfect cut every time! With this jigsaw you get the choice of 4 different orbital settings meant for cutting through a variety of materials. The 45-degree level base allows for more versatile cuts for more complex projects while the easy release blade collar makes changing blades quick and painless. I personally don't do too many complex jobs but its a nice feature. The lock-on switch allows for continuous cutting while reducing user fatigue. A built-in LED light (great idea as I don't see well in the low light) increases visibility for increased accuracy when cutting. This jigsaw did not come with a battery but that is fine as I already have a HART 20V Lithium-Ion battery Recommend adding this one to your workshop or garage tool inventory!
Sometimes you can expect the unexpected, such as w the HART lineup, namely the 20v Brushless Orbital Jigsaw. I'm in the construction industry and yes i use them on the jobsite, HART storage packout and all. I get looks and jeerz from peers but at the end of the day they're all asking about my setup; pricing, battery longevity (which could use some improvement), how the tools hold out yada yada Yoda and my jigsaw has been doing cutins for my jboxes and pop-in boxes like nobody's business!!!
I think Hart has hit on a great strategy with their line of tools and this 20 volt battery-operated cordless orbital jigsaw only proves how good they're getting. Right out of the box you can tell this is a well made jigsaw. I was surprised at the weight, 3.7 pounds without a 20 v. battery or 4.5 pounds with. Sounds heavy (and it felt pretty heavy too) and I was initially worried it might be a little much for a long day of work. However, the rubber covered handle cut way down on vibrations and the associated fatigue. The Hart jigsaw has great lines and it looks like it has fantastic ventilation for long life. This model came without a paired 20 volt battery but it also sells in a combo pack with the battery. However, since I already have several other Hart tools that's not a problem for me. Just FYI so you don't get home, open the box and find there's no battery. For testing I grabbed a spare piece of ½ inch OSB plywood siding. The Hart jigsaw comes with a single universal shank wood blade, but replacement blades are readily available anywhere. What a beautiful cut this made. There are a lot of options on this orbital jigsaw. Speed goes from molasses slow to blurringly fast. The orbital selections go from zero to three, with each notch increasing cutting speed but also increasing the amount of “tearing” of the wood. At zero the cut (with a new, sharp blade) is clean and precise. At three you can blaze through cuts but it leaves a little bit of thread from the wood on the side of the cut. You can adjust the cutting angle up to 45 degrees either side as well. Here's where I found a good surprise. I was very glad to find that the notched base seats the cutting platform perfectly. In other words, there are detents on the center and other positions so you can be sure your cuts are exact and repeatable. These days when you're paying way too much for lumber, doing it right the first time is more important than ever. Finally, it's cordless. That's something very difficult to beat. You're not tethered to an extension cord or having to only work where you can find 110 volts. I ran this Hart jigsaw at full power continuously for nearly an hour while I was testing it out and couldn't tell any difference in power – it felt as strong at the end as it did when I began. Impressed. Try this one out. And keep an eye on Hart. They're really putting out some quality tools now.
The HART jigsaw comes in a box with an owner's manual and 1 saw blade. Was hoping it would come with at least 1 spare. The body is made of a durable hard plastic material with a rubber material over the top for better grip. There is a switch for selecting different speeds. There is also am adjustment that can be made to tilt the base 45 degrees in either direction.
First of all I do like the light weight (W/1.5Ah battery) that makes it very easy to use. Now for the options, I really like the quick change blade feature that makes it very handy out in the field it also comes with a mar resistant shoe cover. tThe variable speed sw. is neatly tucked within a finger's reach. the shoe is very easy to set to an angel although it does not have angel markings except for 45 degree"s in which it locks in positively. All in all this is a nice little saw and no cords!!
Easily half the price of the "Pro" brands but so far so good feels like its on par with the big boys. Which big boys? Google "who makes HART tools" and you will see what other brands they actually make. Also, not neon green, which imho is a major plus. I was a bit disappointed in the additional contents of the box initially; no bag, only one blade...but then I thought blades are cheap and I never keep my tools in the bag anyway.
I don't use power tools that much, just for some small home projects like making a bench or a farm house style table. This jig saw works alright, and it gets the job done. I suppose if you're looking for something more professional or heavy duty, I would go with one of the more popular brands, but for small projects this thing will get the job done. It feels a bit cheap, but it's lightweight and easy to handle. It includes a little light that shines down on where you're cutting, which is very useful!
I have a shop that is the envy of my peers. Wood, metal, and automotive are its main strengths with minor plumbing and electrical work. The tools range from cheapo junk tools to high quality pro tools. The Hart jig saw fits perfectly into this family with its rugged construction, battery powered and comfort of use. The Hart jigsaw rivals the high dollar competition with illuminated headlamp, rubber grip, and variable speeds. The controls are standard and placed where they should be. So, why didn't I give it five stars? Two major reasons with the first possibly out of Harts control. I requested this saw online and when it arrived, it was not in a separate shipping box but the original packaging. The box was beat up and looked like a swap meet special. If I wanted this for a nice gift for someone, that would have looked terrible. The second reason is something Hart can change. Selling a tool without a power source is bad marketing. If this is a replacement tool or part of a bigger kit that would make sense. But to sell it without a battery or charger which costs more than the price of the saw is bad business. If your looking for a good deal and a good tool, you are not getting it this way. However, if you already use Hart tools and have a battery, this is a great addition to your set.
