HART 30-Foot Autolock Tape Measure

Truly great product! Hefty and large, perfect to clip and carry. (clip is tight, very secure). Bold blue and white make it easy to spot in a pile of wood, tools, whatever, hard to misplace this one! Seems built to take a beating, solid, well made. Fractions clear, large numbers made it easy to read at a glance. Retraction mechanism is smooth, fast. I expect to get many years of use from it.

This is the best metal tape measure I have ever used. First, the long length of it got my attention--it went to 30 feet-- and I was able to measure outdoors and on my patio. So many times I wished for a longer measure and here it is. Then I liked that when I pulled out the tape to measure, it automatically stays out until you hit the top blue button to retract it--this made it easy to measure my outside patio. And depending on how long you hold that retracting blue button down, it will retract a small way or all the way back. It also has the fractions printed on the measure tape, so it makes it very easy to determine the exact measurement. And when you reach each foot of measurement, it not only reads the amount of inches but also indicates for example, 4F (4 foot) so you're not tired and trying to figuring out how many feet those inches comprise. I like the metal large hook on the end to help you maintain the beginning of your measure while you proceed to extend it to the end of measurement, and this is certainly something that helps me. The metal belt clip on the back was harder for me to use, but this tape measure has many great aspects. Thank you for allowing me to review this, and I think every household and business would prefer to have this particular tape measure.

Im really impressed with the ability to not have it bend on me the moment I extend it. It has a great clip so its not going to just fall off a belt. It stays out until you release it. Im pretty pleased with it, its large but not overly bulky. The numbers are large and clear very visible. I like how large the end piece is i can stick it on a board and its not goong anywhere. On the side of the tape measure it even has how big the unit is 4" so no guessing.

This is a good quality tape measure. It is bigger than I thought it would be. The casing is easy to grip. The tape does not bend as cheaper tape measures do. Once the tape is locked in place you are still able to feed out more tape. It has a large hook to be able to grip the starting point.

As an experienced DIYer, I've owned and still own several steel tapes, but when I used this for the first time today, I was IN LOVE! The design flaws of every other tape is corrected in this one from Hart. First of all, it automatically locks whenever you extend it, and retracts when you push the button! Blades usually lock when you push the button, then you have to fight it to unlock it. This is brilliant! Since by default you want it to lock until you read your measurement, this saves a step. Secondly, the fractions are black print for 8ths and red print for 4ths. I love this feature too because it makes it quicker to see which mark you're at. Saves so much time! I really like the larger, flat hook too. I always doubt an accurate measurement with other tapes because the hook never sits flat on the material and constantly slips off. The wire clip for pocket or belt is great too since it's rounded and smooth so it clips on my pocket easily. And finally, the case itself is made of a rubber-like material so it's not slippery when setting on material during marking. This tool solves so many aggravating issues that I've had during projects over the years. Thank you Hart!

I just received this tape measure, and I love it! It is very well made and has many functions. This is a great tape measure for inside or outside. I especially like the size, not as bulky and noisy as my husband's old one that I have to find in the garage all the time. I will be using this one in the house for my use. It is the perfect size and does exactly what is needed. I especially like the lock feature and auto release. Very well-made product!!

I've not heard of the Hart brand before. But when this item arrived, we were surprised at how heavy it is. It feel quality. On the back is a clip to hook to belt, or more likely hang off of a pocket. This is no lightweight tape measure. It feels complete quality. The tape itself pulls out nice and smooth. The markings are very large and easy to read. The end has the typical catch for a nail so that you can use this with one hand. However, the really nice thing about this tape measure, next to the very long 30 foot length, is the auto-locking mechanism. This clever internal mechanism will allow the tape measure to be pulled out to any length and it locks completely in place. It can be pulled out further even after it's been stopped. To retract the tape measure, just press the button on the top and it smoothly glides back inside, just as you'd expect. This may seem like a gimmick. But it's not. After using this to take some measurements by myself, I don't know if I'd go back to a traditional tape measure without the auto stop. It makes it a lot easier to do measurements by myself.

This HART 30-Foot Autolock Tape Measure is definitely sturdy and I love the weight of this tape measure in my hand. Have you ever held a tool and thought "Wow, this feels great just holding it"? This has that genuine feel! The auto locking tape makes a world of difference and you need this in your toolbox! The tape measure is well made and thicker than other brands which stops it from feeling flimsy or bending which has always been a downfall with other brands. Another feature that makes a HUGE difference is the belt clip on the back. It's smoothly made so it's easy to attach and detach without snagging or ripping my jeans or work belt. This is just all around awesomely made!

Absolutely LOVE this tape measure. Big numbers, all the fractions are on it, stays put when you roll it out until you press the button for it to roll in. Very sturdy. Big strong tip to lock onto the edges.This is the best tape measurer I've ever owned. If you do allot of house projects, this is a must have.

This tape measure is actually five-star, but I'm deducting a star because I had a horrible time dealing with the packaging. Once I got past the cardboard backing, there was the stiff plastic packaging that one finds on so many items these days. After spending several minutes with scissors, I cut my hand on the sharp edges of the plastic that encased the hook on the back side. I had to use a flathead screwdriver to pry the hook off the plastic casing (please see my pic). I actually put safety goggles on because I was afraid something might pop up and hit me in the face. Once the tape measure was free from the casing, I discovered a very nice tape measure. The yellow tape measure has large, very easy to read, numbering...even the fractions are easy to read. The tape measure is just shy of an inch wide. The tape pulls out easily. The tape locks into place as soon as it is pulled out. When the tape is extended for several feet, it snaps back into place in increments. I found the tape measure to be on the heavy side (but that's probably to be expected since it is 30 feet long). I would be sure to not wear open-toe shoes if you hook it on your belt or clothing as I think it would definitely hurt a toe if it fell on it. The hook does appear to be strong and solid, however. This tape measure is a nice product, but the packaging could be improved.
