HART 30-Foot Soft Grip Compact Tape Measure, Oversized Hook

Great value! Tough and useful

My first impression was how heavy it was. Now for a man, it just feels normal, but I'd had only rinky dink tapes in the past. This one was a whole new ball game. The MOST important part for me was how large the numbers were. I don't see very well, and had no trouble seeing these. I could even see the fractions. The brake works really well. On cheaper ones, that's usually the first thing to go in my experience, then it doesn't want to retract the tape. But the HART on was terrific, even my better half who is a die hard Stanley man was impressed. So thank you for the opportunity to experience a HART product.

The HART 30-Foot Soft Grip Compact Tape Measure with Oversized Hook works great. Me and my wife installed a large window ac this weekend and needed a tape measure. This one has the inches and feet on both sides and the back side is orientated so you dont have to break your neck trying to read it as you can easily read it in up down position on the back side and side to side on the front side. The numbers are large and readable. The belt hook works good and is strong and seems well connected we were both surprised how easy it was to read due to the multiple orientations of the numbers. The tape measure locks in place very strongly and does not accidentally slide back in. If this one ever breaks and let me tell you its causing is very tough so I have doubts it ever will but if it did we would get another just like it. We own 2 other tape measures and they dont compare to this one.

This compact tape measure is what you're always looking around for to measure dimensions of things you need precise numbers for...maybe that includes everything! I find measuring with this oversized hook really helps me with accuracy. I am also quite pleased that it fits in my palm (all 30 feet of it). I would definitely recommend this for women who are measurement amateurs!

This is a really good tape measure that far exceeded my expectations for its price point. The tape dispenses easily and smoothly and retracts very confidently in just the same manner. The rubberized exterior provides a very secure grip. The lock lever is easy to find by feel and stays in place once engaged. I really appreciate the over-sized tab at the end of the tape, which makes it a cinch to hook onto edges for one-person measurements. The belt clip feels very firm -- almost too firm actually but that's probably a good thing. It's not going to slip off a belt by accident. I can't speak to durability yet but the solid construction makes me feel like it will last quite a while.

I LOVE this tape measure!!! I'm always doing little projects around the house that require using a tape measure and this one works great. It has easy to read markings and and smooth open and retract. It is comfortable in your hand and has a rubber non slip finish, which is very helpful. Great product that is made well and rugged to hold up for many years of use.

I received the Hart 30-foot Soft Grip Compact Tape Measure with oversized hook from the Walmart Spark review program for my honest opinion. First thoughts was on the Rubber overmold housing it has, giving you a great grip on it. It's a nice size with large easy to read print on both sides of the tape. Could measure up to 30 feet with no problem. The oversized hook is awesome. It hooks and stays pretty much on everything, making it easy to measure fairly quickly. It also has a wire form clip, making it easy to clip and carry around. Overall it's a great measuring tape. Not too heavy. Seems pretty well made. Will not be disappointed.

This is a very sturdy measuring tape. Large numbers and markings, make it is a pleasure to use for measuring around the house or on the job. The extra wide tape makes it easier to measure greater distances with accuracy the tape will extend easily to about 9 feet without bending with its own weight. I love that it shows inches and "feet and inches" on the tape. The fraction of inches are actually shown as well, eliminating the guessing as to whether it is a 1/4 inch or 3/8 of an inch. All in all this is a very good product. I do have one comment to make about the packaging. I have encountered some difficult packaging in the past but this one takes the cake. I spent at least 15 minutes trying to figure out how to get it out of the package and ended up resorting to knife and scissors and still almost cut myself. Improve the packaging and it would rate 5 stars.

I was looking forward to a "compact" 30' tape measure. The picture didn't show its' true bulk and size. The tape is one inch wide, most tapes are 1/2 inch wide, contributing its weight and bulk. I have a 50' tape with manual wind up that is handier than this. Additionally the metal tape is not very flexible. The first time I extended the tape to about 12' and pressed the rewind switch, the tape whipped around and got two kinks in it. (see picture). One kink almost immediately split causing the tape to jam the next time I tried to pull it out. The belt clip seemed to fit alright, but with the bulk of the tape, it sticks out too much. I suppose the one inch wide tape might be easier to read, but to me, it is not worth the extra bulk and weight. I don't believe I have much use for this particular tape measure, but could see it being used in construction if you were careful.

This is the worst tape measure I've ever owned. It tore in half only a dozen or so uses. (I bought the 30 Ft version) Do yourself a favor and buy a different brand. I own several other Hart tools that are all great, but this one was a complete waste of money
