HART 35-Foot Soft Grip Compact Tape Measure, Oversized Hook

This is a nicely designed tape measure. You can't beat it for the price. If you want to measure without spending very much, I would get this.

The entire housing of the Hart 35 ft. Soft Grip Tape Measure is covered in rubber for an excellent grip. The lock lever is very easy to operate, but it holds the tape tightly. The belt clip is wire instead of flat steel. Hart says it is easier on belts. I can't say for sure at this point. Time will tell. The hook at the end of the tape is attached with 3 rivets, like many other quality ones. But, they are riveted through not only a chromed steel piece on top, but also through another one on the bottom! This adds extra stiffness and durability to the hook attachment, in my estimation. It projects upward and downward for versatility when measuring. Great idea! By the way, the tape has measuring increments on both sides of the tape! The 16" increments are in bright red for standard 2x4 stud spacing. The increments go down to 1/16". Hart calls their design "compact", but It's about as large overall as my 35' tape measure. So, I can't really agree with that claim. It is, however, just a tad lighter. I was able to extend the tape just shy of 9 ft. straight out into the air before it finally collapsed under its own weight. That's what Hart calls standout. 9 ft. is a very good number, based on my experience with other tape measures. The spring was strong all the way to the 35' extreme. So, overall, I have to give this Hart Soft-Grip 35' Tape Measure a grade of excellent. My only gripe is the terribly hard-to-open packaging. I needed a pocket knife to carefully extricate it from the grips of that packaging monster. It's the most difficult packaging I've ever had to deal with. Hart needs to rethink the packaging. The product itself, though, is a real winner! I received this product as part of Walmart's Spark Reviewer program. My reviews are always honest and unbiased. I call 'em as I see 'em.

I received this product as a Spark reviewer. It certainly makes life easier when you are working on a larger project that needs accurate measurements. I had always used my old 12-foot tape and never realized how inconvenient it was until I experienced measuring with this 35-foot tape. It is heavier than I expected but so easy to read and does not twist and turn as you reel it out or in. I'm a senior do it your selfer and love the size of the markings making it very easy on older eyes to read. That is a big advantage to me. This is very well made. My old 12 footer has now been retired as will only be using the Hart tape-measure for all porjects.

My father and grandfather were self-taught woodworkers. No prior experience or training, yet they crafted the most incredible and gorgeous items such as desks (BIG, beautiful desks), chests, kitchen cabinets, rocking horses, end tables and entertainment consoles. They did it solely for the love of it. They did not have a business, it was just a hobby. Many people came to them and asked them to build various items for their home and they did so each time-for free. (minus the cost of supplies) Beginning when I was 2 years old, I was their helper. They would ask me to get a tool from their toolbox and I was able to do so on my own. I knew my way around a toolbox! lol. In my early 20's, I bought my first home. This was before I met/married my husband. When I moved, my dad gave me my grandfather's toolbox and all of the tools inside of it. The tools were VERY old but I didn't care. They had once belonged to my grandfather, after his death my dad got them and when I bought my home, they became my tools. I was beyond touched. It was an honor to get them. It really was. And I used those tools without hesitation. After I married years later, my husband used them as well. One item in the toolbox was a tape measure. This tape measure was decades old and I used to help measure things with that tape measure when I was a kid working with my dad and grandfather. As cheesy as it sounds, its very sentimental to me. It lasted many decades and held up extremely well but recently, it began to get stuck when retracting, the tape portion began to tear and rip and some of the numbers are fading. It was time for a new tape measure. I ordered the Hart 35 foot soft grip tape measure with oversized hook. And I'm so glad that I did! This tape measure is extremely durable. It can be attached to a toolbelt as well. The tape is easy to pull out -it does not bend or get tangled in any way. It retracts easily and quickly , also with out bending or tangling. It has a very secure lock on it to prevent it from moving while in use. Best of all, as someone who just started to wear glasses for the first time in my life, the numbers are big enough for me to see without wearing my glasses! lol. I'm more than satisfied with the Hart tape measure. It works great, its durable and so easy to use. It now has a place in my beloved toolbox. Highly recommended! *Please note...the white spot on the tape is glare from a light in my room that was on when I took the pic...its NOT any kind of damage to the tape itself.*

So besides being able to measure 35' and being well built and sturdy, this tape measure can do it all. The metal clip on the back of the tape measure holds it firmly in place, but I've found it was less intrusive if I hooked it on the loop of my painter's pants, on the side of my leg. When I hooked it on my belt it was so heavy that my pants sagged down. In any case, the spring action recoils with ease and the locking mechanism holds tight. Both are always big pluses. I would highly recommend this tape measure for any bigger type jobs where a longer tape measure is required.

When we first received the tape measure my husband decided to see how far it would stretch out before it bent and it went to 13 feet! This is a quality product and it's very sturdy. I also like that the numbers are large and easy to read. We just recently put up a small fenced in area for our 3 dogs to play off leash. The length of the lot is 30ft and it was really convenient to have this tape measure to use. Since it's a long 35ft we were able to measure the entire distance instead of having to mark and measure additionally. It's fairly heavy and bulky but that's to be expected when the tape measure is 35ft. I am very pleased with this product and would highly recommend it to anyone needing a longer than average tape measure. It made putting up our chain link fence much easier by having this tool to use!

Once in a while I do need a tape measure that can measure long objects in my home projects, such as building a path in my garden. This HART 35-ft tape measure will be very useful. It has a 1 inch wide metal tape with accuracy to 1/16 of an inch. It has a lock switch to stop the tape from reeling back. The tape is housed in a high-quality casing. It is highly recommended.

I just used this awesome Hart 35' tape measure to build lattice frames around back porch. This soft grip heavy duty tape measure is easy to read with large numbers and fractions. The hook is on top and bottom and is oversized. The underside of the metal is also numbered. The lock button and belt clip work great. Great quality. I highly recommend this for any project requiring measuring.

From the time I got this tape measurer I loved it.it has numbers on both sides which I love. It has a big hook which is great. From now on hart is the only tape measure that I'm going to be buying. The one I have is 35 ft. I plan on this lasting a long time.
