The pliers have a smooth operation and a tight grip. They are comfortable in your hands and appear to be durable. My favorite feature is the auto adjust which is awesome because it frees up your other hand. I used them to hold 2 pieces of metal together while I welded and they performed great. If you are in the need of a set of pliers, I wouldn't hesitate purchasing these. The only con I can find is they are a little small, which means I should've selected a larger set. We were given these pliers in exchange for our honest review.
Hart Auto Adjust Locking Pliers are an amazing solution solution for any mechanic, who doesn't want to spend time on frustration constantly making grip adjustments trying to get to the right grip for the job. The pliers have a built-in spring with an auto-adjust mechanism that automatically finds the optimal grip and locks as you squeeze the handles. The lock is easily released by pressing on the blue lever. The Auto Adjust Locking Pliers have a very sturdy, solid built with slip free impressions on the upper handle. This tool is a must have for a job where pliers are frequently reset to different size grips. Every grip saves you about 70% of time on adjustment. Multiply this time by the number of sizes of grips in your job and you will be impressed how much more productive and successful you can feel just by upgrading your manual adjust locking pliers for a piece of Hart engineering that automates the basics so you can focus your attention on what matters the most in your project. Recommend this product.
Firstly, it feels good in the hand. I have large hands and these didn't feel too small. The material feels solid. It has a design where the thumb/palm padding is that gives you a decent grip. The pressure adjustment is nifty, although a LITTLE annoying to use. I have tried locking onto a few things just to test it out and I'm pretty happy with the results. Holds on tight.
I Googled on exactly How to use such a unique Plyers!! This little baby is STURDY, STRONG and, DON'T UNDER ESTIMATE ITS POWER!! You can adjust it VERY easily and, let me tell you, when it clamps onto something, it won't let go until you release it!!
Excellent quality, easy to maneuver in your hand, opens wide, locks just as stated. Nice blue accent. Would highly recommend to anyone especially for the locking mechanism.
bought these along with the bigger pliers and im very impressed the self adjusting tension is awesome making it easy to swith between different size bolts without having to adjust a turn screw
Received the HART 6-inch Auto Adjust Locking Pliers, Chrome Vanadium Steel and was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy the pliers were. I don't use pliers that often, but the times I needed them these came in handy. For me, I love that I can adjust the pliers so there's no need to own multiple sizes for the small jobs I have at home. Would definitely recommend.
I was happy to receive these locking pliers in return for review. I had a couple of projects on hold, basically because I could not remove the old rusty screws. Project one was removing my old shutters, since I had bought all new ones to hang. The old vinyl ones were so thin, brittle and cheap that I could just cut them off, because I couldn't remove the old screws. Regular pliers didn't work because I couldn't hold them tight enough to grip the screw and turn at the same time. These auto locking pliers worked like a charm. I placed the jaw to grip the head of the screw, locked and was able to turn and remove the screws easily. Same situation with the lights on my driveway ceiling. My plan was to remove the old tarnished gold covers and paint them white. Sounds easy enough…until I could not get the old rusted screws out. Nothing seemed to work. Then I tried these auto adjust locking pliers on the head of the screw. Again, another project successfully completed with these locking pliers. I have included pictures off my completed projects. So many hours of struggling with rusty screws wasted before trying these pliers. The clamping pressure was perfect for me. I didn't need to adjust. These are made with vanadium steel, which is very durable. They adjusted easily to my varying needs for thickness and size of screws needed to remove.
Nice rugged tool and well made. At first use it appears to be awkward to use but it's not. Reason is that with typical locking pliers you have to adjust the screw to get the jaw size close to the relative size of what your going to use it on. That means the movable handle is pretty close to a normal plier grip before you apply the added pressure to lock it firmly. You might have to readjust the screw if you over or under estimated the amount of grip you wanted and nine times out of ten I over estimated and had to back off the screw a couple of times due to extra squeeze force necessary to get it to lock. With this one, the movable handle is perpendicular at its widest opening, 1”, or 45 degrees when closed completely and not locked. This is why it appears awkward to use at first because with the old-style locking pliers it would pretty close to impossible to get them to lock with the handles at those angles for that size nut or pipe. With the Hart, you simply continue squeezing and the plier locks without having to adjust for size. I've included two photos showing the plier locked to a 3/8” nut and for comparison locked to a 9/16” socket without ever having to adjust due size of each item. The amount of force the lock exerts is controlled by a small screw located between the handles. Threaded all the way in gives the lightest grip pressure with half way out more than I needed for most of my uses. I found about ¾ turn out from the lightest pressure worked the best for me. The extended release lever is a nice feature and makes it easier to unlock if you “really locked” it too tight. A worthwhile tool to add to your toolbox, roadside or emergency repair kit.
I have been attempting to use these pliers for a while now and I have researched how to use them and I cannot get them to work as others have. While these are great quality, heavy and durable, they definitely require someone who knows how to use them. They are simple enough to open and they have a great grip, nice handle and very thick, weighted material, however, you have to use the screw when you close them, which can be out of the way, they will not close if the screw isn't in a specific location. I am still using these, still learning and do recommend them for experienced users only. I do not recommend someone who has never used pliers to get these.
