Hartz UltraGuard Flea & Tick Collar for Puppies

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I fitted our collie with the Hartz Ultra Guard Flea and Tick Collar a few weeks ago in hopes of limiting the number of ticks that latch on to the poor girl every spring and summer. The fit is good and didn't seem to bother her much. It's hard to tell what kind of long term effect the collar will have but the results after 3 or 4 weeks has been pretty good. We've only pulled a few ticks off of her compared to 5 or 6 per week, and those ticks were by her hind legs which is a good sign. The collar is flexible, seems comfortable, and is waterproof which is convenient during the summer. I'm very happy with the collar so far. It was very easy to put on my pet and she didn't mind having it on at all. Within a few days I noticed that she was not scratching at all so I knew it was already working. Prior to trying the Hartz collar for which I received for free, I used a Sentry product. I feel the Hartz product is superior and have recommended to friends.

At first my dog didn't like it because the scent might be a bit too overwhelming for her. She tried to get it off of her without success. 10 mins later, she was fine and playing in the yard without any itching or scratching at all. As the weather started to warm up, I feel very comfortable letting her playing more in the yard without any problems. With this UltraGuard Dog Collar, I'm no longer worried much about unwanted ticks and fleas from outside. This helps my dog play safe and very well protected. Before using this particular brand on my dog, I called her veterinarian just to make sure he recommended it. I worry about using the wrong product on my pets without asking their vet first. The vet said the Hartz brand is highly recommended. Since my dog, Sadie has been using the Hartz UltraGuard Flea and Tick Collar for Dogs, I have seen no fleas and no ticks! She used to come in the house after going outside with at least one of the insects on her, if not both. It's been so nice not seeing her scratch her itches all the time. I have tried different brands of flea and tick collars and haven't gotten the best results as I have with the Hartz brand. I will be using this product from now on for my dogs because it works! It fits really well, and is a perfect size for any size dog since it adjusts. It keeps the fleas off her, she has not been scratching at all. I love that it works for up to 6 months. It stays securely fastened because it has a dual hook up on it to keep it on and stays on. I love that it is water resistant because my dog loves to play in the water, puddles, pool, rain, ...especially in the summertime; its the best time to have a water resistant flea collar for protection. It is very soft and flexible so its not intrusive to my dog. It is very lightweight and comfortable on her, she doesn't even notice it being there. Thankfully, upon opening the package, the scent isn't too harsh and over powdery like competitors do. I applied the color on my medium size dog, she starting scratching and getting the meds to spread onto her skin. Being is Southeastern Kentucky, fleas & ticks are very brutal already this time of year. I've not seen any of either on her yet and I check very frequently. She didn't have any fleas before using and Hartz has helped keep them off for the summer. I've been hearing that we're having a particularly bad 'flea year' here in Oregon. So, that is Exactly why I bought these flea collars. I use flea drops monthly but that wasn't quite cutting it and I thought that adding the additional protection of these collars would help my dogs to be comfortable again. But they're not. I even went so far as to put the cut off ends of these collars under the blankets in their beds. It hasn't helped. I wouldn't buy these collars again...
