This flea collar was well worth the money, great because it has a reflector on the collar I like that it lasts for 6 months!
Used in conjunction with fipronil drops the collar is a good adjunct. It adds the extra oomph and the reflecting collar really shines out at night for cats who like to spend time outdoors at night as mine do.
Will need to wait to know for sure if this will meet expectations. Collar hi-viz band is great. Don't know for sure if the clasp will hold. Other flea collars kept disappearing, so time will tell with this one! Same with effectiveness for ticks! Great price, though!
Would have given it a 5-Star; but , I haven't tried this for cat yet. Reviewed for my dogs: "This Hartz Ultra Guard Pro Collar (with the reflective silver strip on it) is the Best flea retardant that I've used for several years! In fact, I had such good luck for our dogs that I got one for the cat. Wish me luck, please." I'm trusting Hartz that I'll be as successful for my cat! Will let ya'll know if have any cat problems.
I love the break-a-way feature.
Liked the reflective strip for my outdoor cat. Breakaway feature sounded nice also. Didn't like that my cat was scratching and lost the collar in less than a day. My other cat hasn't lost her's yet.
When I got the collar I immediatly put it on my cat to help him with the itching from fleas. The darn collar broke on me as I was putting it on, because it's a break away collar. So I got it on my cats neck and taped the collar together, and he is still scratching and itching. So I'm going to get him a topical flea medication. This collar is about a good as a rock.
Please don't waste your money and make the same mistakes I did as I have 2 cats. If anything, the problem was worse after I put the collars on.
This is the first time my two cats have had fleas in the three years we have had them. Went to Walmart, got some flea shampoo, flea comb and two of these collars. Shampooed the cats and waited until they were dry to put on their collars. I noticed fleas back on the cats days later. I figured it'd take a few days to work. Wrong. One cat began losing fur where the collar was. This has never happened before to her with her normal collars in the past. Then I noticed the other cat developed scabs around her neck where the collar was. I took the collars off both of them. Now to find a treatment that works.
I have four indoor pets: three cats and a dog. Flea season came around and they all got fleas. :/ So I bought them all collars, washed all the bedding, gave them flea baths, ect. Less than a week later, they all had fleas again. The collars were worthless. I read that they don't work when there is already an infestation but I removed said infestation from them and everything else. The only thing that worked was bathing them frequently and a flea powder I bought from Walmart as well that can be shaken on the bedding, floors, and rubbed on the pets. I tried going back to the collars but within no time, all the fleas were back again.
