[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Dad of two boys (ages 8 & 11) here - picked up “Beat the Heat” card game for our family game nights and wow, this one's been a winner! Why my kids love it: The theme is perfect for summer - my boys are obsessed with anything that feels like beating the heat since we live in Arizona. The gameplay is fast-paced enough to keep their attention but strategic enough that my 11-year-old can really think through his moves. Family game night gold: • Games last about 20-30 minutes, perfect attention span for my 8-year-old • Easy to learn rules (took us maybe 5 minutes to get going) • Enough strategy to keep me engaged as an adult • Great for 2-4 players, so perfect for our family of four What impressed me: The card quality is solid - important with kids who aren't always gentle with games. The artwork is bright and fun without being too kiddy. My boys actually ask to play this one specifically, which says a lot! Parent perspective: No tiny pieces to lose, no complicated setup, and it actually teaches some good strategic thinking. Plus the boys can play it together without me refereeing every move. Minor downsides: The box could be a bit sturdier - it's showing some wear after a few months of kid handling.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This durable set sure kept our attention with its fast paced action, and would be a fine addition to family game night! And although it can be quick, strategy forces one to stop and think, is this the right card? Everything is of great quality and would be a great value, one to last.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had everyone at my 9-year-old s sleepover playing and it got so competitive. By the end of the night the living room was a disaster Definitely our new go-to for game night. Huge win. Highly recommend for families who love a little chaos and a lot of fun!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had to read the directions twice in order to understand how to play the game and look back a couple times but that's totally normal for first time play! This game is actually a lot of fun! My husband and I have a lot of laughs playing this and I get quite competitive while playing. I love how it makes you think, you never know what card your competitor is going to put down, so that makes the game exciting. The cards are durable material, they are very colorful and cool looking. I really love this game and look forward to introducing it to others in the future.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this item free in exchange for my honest review from influenster. This was an interesting card game that reminded us several times of old school card games such as WAR, Take 5 and Rummy. It took playing a couple of rounds following the directions closely to get into the hang of it, but once you figure out how to play, play goes quickly and you can begin to use some strategy. It will probably be easier to teach younger players how to play by showing them rather than explaining. You do 10 rounds of play and use strategy to try to finish each round with the fewest points. The game comes in a simple cardboard box with the equivalent of two decks of cards and the playing instructions.. You will also need a pen and paper to play. We have played several times to see how likely we are to go for this game whenever we are in the mood to play a card game and we came to the conclusion that this is probably something that we will play if we are just wanting something to pass an hour or two. We are going to continue to play this a few more times and may end up getting some of these as stocking stuffers at the holidays... Especially for families that have preteens as this would be a good game to help them learn how to play with strategy but also be simple enough that they can pick up on it quickly.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We brought this card game along on a road trip and had a great time playing with the family! It took a little while to learn the rules of the game, but once we got the hang of it, we had a blast! The game was simple enough for my 8-year-old to play along with us too! This is a great game to play with the family or at a party.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The game is simple, easy to learn how to play. My 8 years old son learned how to play quickly. I still haven't got the tips to win, so we are still heavily relying on the luck. I think this is more like a laid back and fun for all type of game. The cards are high quality and colorful, I can see them lasting for a long time. It's a good addition to our family game collection.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Beat the Heat was a hit in my house. Nothing beats a card game that can be played at home or easily brought in a bag for fun on the go. The cards are good enough quality that they don't get bent easily. I like that it is easy to learn, family friendly, and fun for any age. Our group ranged from age 4 to 32 and everyone enjoyed it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product complimentary in exchange for my unbiased opinion. It looks cool. It's hard to figure out a new game and teach everyone the rules. I'm still not clear on a few, and all scenarios were not explained. It was ok. it seemed much more chance than the skill needed to play. My family wasn't that enthralled with it, and I dont want to continue playing.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a fun family game to play with younger kids. It took a minute to understand but once we did it was a lot of fun. Cards are nice quality and won't bend or rip easily. Would recommend as a summer activity to get kids brains going and to beat boredom.
