The concrete around my pool was pretty rough and would get very hot. We couldn't walk on it in the middle of the day. I'm getting up to 24° Temperature drop across the painted surface versus non-painted surface. When I walk out to my pool, I can actually feel a difference in the ambient temperature since this stuff reflects so much of the sunlight heat. I'm hoping it helps cold the water down on my pool. The cooler concrete around the pool should transfer less heat into the water.
I live in an area that can get to 118 degrees. I have tried all kinds of cooling paint and this paint is the ONLY one that does the job! I would recommend this to anyone!
Pool deck was originally finished with this product. Ten years later, I'm just now refinishing with same product. Goes on smooth, dries quickly so re-coat in four hours is perfect. Looks great and would highly recommend.
We have had positive experiences with this product so far. We've put it on several surfaces. Prep makes a difference. Fingers crossed that it continues.
We used this product to cover a cement surfaced pool deck. We put two coats on as directed on the can. It works better than we ever dreamed! We used a laser temperature gage to measure and it actually kept the deck a minimum of 15 degrees cooler. It was safe even for babies and pets to walk on. No more hot concrete and not slippery plus it looks good. We would highly recommend H&C Cool Feel exterior acrylic solid color from Sherwin Williams. Ken and Jane Hood
Recently did my first job with this product on a concrete pool deck ( 1000 sq ft ) that was 14 years old and never treated . Started with power washing with a 12 inch rotary surface washer at 2500 PSI . Next used H & C concrete etching solution , applied with garden pump sprayer in 10 x 10 sections , scrubbed with stiff bristle brush , long handle pole , in both directions , rinsed with garden hose and strong jet nozzle . It takes quite a while to completely remove the solution until it no longer foams white as it should . Let dry over night . Next was to apply the Cool Feel , I use a 3/8 nap 9 inch roller with long handle pole . Stir with cordless drill and stir rod for at least 5 min per 5 gallon bucket , then keep stirring while adding the Shark grip ( which I highly recommend , and I did it in both coats , very slick surface ) for another 5 min . I worked straight from the bucket in 10 x 10 sections going same direction , stirring again after each section . The product applies very nice and even , completely submerge the roller and let it drip for 15 - 20 sec each time in bucket . Next was the second coat , basically the same but applied in opposite direction , Don't over coat but also make sure you don't get stingy with this coat if you don't want to have to do a third as first coat was very see thru when it dried . One thing I learned is DO NOT apply this product if temps are 90 deg plus and sun is shinning on surface , it dries very fast and will not spread or cure properly , even the droplets that happen dry before you can roll them out . As for the temp drop in the surface , YES , it definitely dropped our deck by about 15-20 deg . As for repelling stains ? Time will tell . Color : I found the color we chose to be at least a shade or 2 lighter that the swatch we picked after it dried , Don't know why as it looked correct in the bucket but in the end we did like the color result . I used approx 13 Gallons of Cool on the project . Overall a good product so far , our pool deck looks great , hopefully it will last for years , we will see . Hope this helps , good luck . Randy
We first used SW H&C Cool Feel Acrylic Paint on our cool-deck in 2020. Four years later, Florida mildew had taken its toll. In the span of 48 hours we first applied Zep Mildew Remove to the black spots around the pool. Then we power washed the entire deck. Let it dry overnight and the next morning applied H&C Cool Feel to the cool-deck. It looks fantastic and keeps the cool deck about 15 degrees cooler than the adjacent brick paver patio area. I have show-and-tell pictures available for anyone who wants to see the before & after results.
We painted are pool deck this weekend started by power washing then we cleaned the entire deck using tsp with a stiff brush then went over with a cleaning brush from power washer then rinsed let dry over night ! Next day we started all the cutting in and inside edge of the pool we used a 3 inch roller for most of the trim we rolled the inside edge of the pool then we went back around going down opposite way ! 2 coats to cover ! Are pool is already so textured we did not use the shark grip! I actually kept a paint stick in to keep stiring while going around! You want to work in morning and late evening took all day for all cutting in and fixed all the cracks in concrete! We used drill to stir paint in cans and we used paint trays the next day when we started rolling we got first coat down that Morning ..evening got 2nd coat going crossway opposite so it will cover ! Don't try if over 85 degrees too hot and paint is thick will dry too fast ! We used 3/8 nap 9”roller ! We have 980 sq ft used 12 cans and color we used 6101 sands of time ! Looks great so glad we used a darker color because once you paint it looks lighter ! Cream color ! Hope this help !
I had my patio and pool deck finished with this product. It does feel cool and looks good also. But, I spilled grease from my grill on the patio. And, I have tried many products to clean it up and it will not clean. It has left a very visual stain. Fortunately I have some of the product left, so I can hopefully cover this stain up. But, the product info. says it resists oil. I guess this doesn't include grease from grilling. Just be aware of this, it's not as durable as it advertises.
This product is not SW quality by far. I painted my large pool deck, 2 coats with 5 Gals in 2 sections. Waited over a week to walk on it then painted other half. This paint shows foot prints, dirt, stains and mars with the slightest touches. So sorry i used this product.
