NOT a 20 gallon trash can. Not sure why it says it can fit 20 or 30 gallon trash bags, that’s ridiculous. The 20 gallon trash bag fit only half of it, barely. It definitely needs 30 gallon bags. Other than that, the trash can itself is great — perfect for our family of 5 who is tired of taking out trash twice a day. Foot pedal works well.

I like that this trash can is a decent size, but for the money it’s not worth it. The part that you step on to open the lid snaps out of its mechanism and becomes loose when you try to step on it. It has to be snapped back in every time. The whole reason I bought the trash can was for the stepping mechanism, so it’s pretty disappointing.

Great size, but poor design at the back of the can We really like the large 20.1-gallon size of this trash can. We have a large family and use it in our kitchen, so it's great not having to change the trash bag as often. The step pedal and lid are also convenient. Unfortunately, the design at the back of the can is a major problem. Because of the way the lid-opening mechanism is built, the trash bag cannot fit snugly around the entire top of the can. There is an open area at the back where the bag pulls away from the inside of the trash can. Food and other trash can easily fall into this gap, ending up outside the bag but inside the trash can. This happens whether we use a 20-gallon bag or a larger 30-gallon bag, so the problem is not the size of the trash bag. It is the design of the can. You can't simply pull the bag up higher over the back because it can get caught in the lid mechanism when the lid opens and closes. My husband and I both find this very frustrating. I understand that the design may allow the trash can to sit closer to the wall, but I would much rather have the can stick out a little farther than have to pick food and garbage out from behind the bag every time I change it. It's a shame because we really like the size and would otherwise be very happy with this trash can. The lid mechanism and the way the bag fits at the back need a better design.

Listen to the reviews. The foot pedal broke within 30 seconds of me getting it and I was gentle and knew that it might be sensitive because I saw the other negative reviews. I tried to fix it and then it broke again about four minutes later. I can’t believe how many positive reviews there are this product is defective. Do not buy it under any circumstances. I will be returning it and staying away from the hefty brand.

They sent me the wrong lid it’s an L lid and my trashcan says matched to base are R . How do I get the right lid? I’m not very happy.
