This does a beautiful job of adding foil to invitations. Just make sure anything that you've printed out is from a laser printer, if not the foil won't stick.
Really fun and useful machine for all my decorating and accessorizing needs--really a game-changer for me. I have added foil to cards, postcards, gift labels, and mini card-stock cards--really adds some flair to my card materials and invitations. I can't wait for Christmas to add some metallic and gold embellishments to my cards!
cool
Love this machine! I had tried using the foil transfer using a regular laminator, with dismal results. I had it all set to "re-gift" to another crafter. However, after getting the Minc, I LOVE being able to add foil to my designs. This works perfectly.
Really makes my cards and postcards have that extra shine and flair. I wish the package comes with more foil rolls though, since I ended up using all of it after two weeks (still waiting for more foil rolls to arrive so I can foil some more stuff!). The machine heats up quickly...in a good and bad way. Good in that you can start feeding paper pretty quickly after turning it on...bad in that it gets REALLY hot and I have to wait 30-60 minutes before I can wrap and store it after I'm finished crafting. Other than that, really good machine!
As someone who isn't an "intense" crafter, I was at first wary of getting such a machine. It seemed big and bulky, and I wasn't really too sure if I was going to be using it that much. Thankfully, it has proven to be a handy and extremely useful tool to personalize my cards and decorations, and is quite easy to use for a beginner like me. The Minc Foil Applicator machine and kit comes with the machine, a handy plastic pocket holder, a foil sheet, and some starter tags to try it out for the first time. I also had some additional heidi swapp accessories to try out. One thing I didn't realize--being the rookie crafter that I am--was that if I wanted to make custom prints to "foil-ize", I needed a laser printer. Unfortunately, I only have an inkjet printer at home so I have to resort to printing out personalized/custom designs either in the office, or at a nearby printing shop. I would highly suggest those who want to have the full shop/experience to definitely have a laser jet printer (you can get one for rather cheap!) at home. The machine gets pretty hot--so it does take time to cool off after using. Make sure your ink/application ink does not show when using the machine without the folder. Since if you do, the ink will show up in your next couple future rounds of application/using the device. Be sure to use the folder at all times (unlike me!). So far, I've made a lot of test cards and postcards to hang on my wall. My friends have commented and marveled at the finished products I have made so far--they never realized DIY can be as professional looking as the things that I have been making! Once I have an opportunity to make tons of cards (like for Christmas!), I'm going to go allll out and really take advantage of this machine. I would definitely recommend it to both the beginner and advanced crafter. Please note that I received this product for free for my unbiased opinion.
This is such A CUTE KIT! As someone who usually makes my own cards, I have to say that this Minc Foil Applicator really made my hand-made cards stand out. It was so easy and fun to use. I have to say it is on the expensive side and is worth it if you know you will be using it frequently. Also, with the starter kits you have to use the designs that they give you. You have to buy additional products to be able to create your own designs
Very nice to use with the minc foil, nice and crisp, fast also.
The Minc Foil Applicator is a good foil applicator machine. Remember that you need to use a laser printer-NOT Inkjet-in order to have the foil stick to the ink and create a foil effect. I was not aware of this when I initially tried using the machine, so had to purchase a cheap laser printer <$50. I had the Minc Foil accessory kit (separate) that included this spray and paint that when you apply/paint and wait to dry, it also can be used in the foil machine. The annoying thing was the spray paint applicator takes FOREVER to dry, and when you paint it on with minimal paint, it doesn't apply properly. You need to use globs (hence why it takes a while to dry). Besides the annoyance with the paint spray applicator, using the laser printing to make designs and foil garnishes on paper crafts worked extremely well. Please note I wrote this review for my unbiased review.
I used this once for foiling transparency for resin insert's and it was awesome, so much better than amazing basics laminator. Then, it never worked again. I bought it in January, it's mid March, I used it once, now it won't even turn on, and it's past return window. Total BS.
