I've been using this backpack under a variety of conditions for a week now and it is terrific. I am 5'9" with a 60" chest and was nervous about getting a pack that wouldn't fit comfortably, but with the straps fully extended to their loosest setting, this bag offers a great secure fit that is easy to get in and out of, even with adhesive capsulitis on one shoulder which is somewhat mobility-limiting. (I don't think I'd be able to say the same for the insulated version with the chest strap, which I wish Herschel would provide more dimensional details for, but who knows.) Also, the Miller isn't specifically advertised as being a "stand-up" backpack, but it is so well-structured that it has stayed upright for me in all conditions so far, even when there's a laptop in the sleeve and nothing else (which you'd think would cause it to tip over!). So much easier to load/unload a bag when it's not slouching or toppling. I was also delighted to find that the outer water bottle sleeves are roomy enough to securely hold a Stanley 40oz Quencher Mug, which is not exactly the smallest vessel. Love the double upper handles that unzip in the middle—a much more upscale detail than a traditional single-handle backpack. I bought this in Peacoat/Chicory and the fabric is satisfyingly thick (again, very very structured). Room for everything! I'm a convert—hadn't used a backpack in over a decade since my college days, but many folks at my urban office do, and given all the stuff I have to carry to/from my worksite each day, I'm glad I took the leap to join them.
I love this backpack. It fits comfortably, has enough space to carry everything I need it to, and makes the loaf not feel as heavy. I'm a university student and this thing can hold 2 computers, 1 large water bottle and 8 thick library books with ease. I only wish it had 1, small interior pocket in the main compartment for change and other small items.
I don't understand why people are complaining so much in the reviews, it's really not as bad as they make it out to be, if anything, this has to be my favorite bag thus far as I'm actually able to carry all of my textbooks, folders, notebooks, and my 15' by 10' laptop for the first time. The material is surprisingly very sturdy and thick so it's really durable. I do have to agree that the front zippers are a bit hard to zip around the edges, but its a minor inconvenience. I don't know how big of water bottles these people have, but they must be gigantic since the side pockets are actually very large.
Nice big bag, fits my 15" Macbook no problem in a separate sleeve at back, plus everything else for the day (notebooks, lunch, water bottle). Really like that there are two smaller pockets in front to stash all of my smaller items and wireless mouse. Handles on top are excellent for stashing bag under my desk or under my seat on the train. Over the shoulder straps are well padded, easily adjustable, and comfortable to wear. Really well built, high quality backpack.
I bought this a few months ago and I absolutely love this bag. It's perfect for travel on budget airlines but is equally good as my day to day commuter/weekend bag. The size is great and finally useful (i have found other Herschel bags too small to helpful and not comfortable at all). This is actually comfy to wear too. Highly recommend.
Sturdy and Spacious Backpack for work and weekends. This sized bag is perfect for. my macbook, a couple paper notebooks, misc pouches for pens and pencils, plus a book, makeup and keys in front pockets. Basically everything I need to get through a work day when not in office.
I have to say it meets all my expectations, it big and can hold everything I need while traveling to and from work. I had a little America bag and needed a replacement. This fit the bill. My only surprise, was that the laptop storage was smaller. But it still fits my laptop, but I'll never be able to buy a bigger one. All in all, worth the purchase.
This would be the perfect backpack if 2 things were changed. 1. No flaps over the outside zippers, it just makes it harder to open, especially the bigger outside one. I have it folded backward which helps though. And 2. Only one handle on top, having 2 just makes it difficult to access the zipper. Otherwise this is such a beautiful bag. I use it as a diaper bag, after having my 3rd child I needed something bigger, and although it doesn't have a ton of extra pockets inside, it is very roomy and allows to the diaper and baby essentials I need as well as snacks etc for my older kids. Another small pocket to drop a cell phone or something would be appreciated but I just really love the large size of this bag without it feeling like a massive hiking backpack.
I am extremely happy with my purchase! If I could've given it 4.5 stars, I would've. The backpack is extremely spacious with one massive internal compartment, two external bottle holders (which can also fit a compact umbrella) and two front pockets (one of which has two small organising pouches - the perfect size for a phone and headphones). I purchased the Fig colour, and it's beautiful yet subtle! I would've appreciated if the laptop sleeve was padded, and padding on the back too - especially considering that it isn't a cheap backpack. Some features present in other backpacks (such as a ring for keys and a sunglasses sleeve) are absent.
The front pouch zippers don't run smoothly like the main zipper does, due to the sharp corners of the pouch. Also, because of the narrowing of the upper part of the backpack, my work file holder doesn't fit inside as expected. Very disappointed with this bag. I want to exchange for a more suitable bag, but was told because I purchased it on sale, it is final sale (despite the item page and receipt saying NOTHING about this). Never buying from this brand again.
