Herschel Classic Retreat Backpack, Raven

I have now used this backpack for 2weeks and am absolutely pleased. I must say that I did miss the accessory pockets for pens in the front or water bottle holders on the side that my previous backpack had, however, I have lost many bottles, keys and wallets by using those. This backpack doesn't even allow that to happen by design.

I bought the camo and red version while it was on sale. This backpack is literally a dream. It's so cute, I get complimented on it all the time and it's the only bag that fits all my stuff for work- I would have paid full price waaaaay sooner had I known this bag was top knotch

Was apprehensive as work laptop bag because of lack of compartments but it ended up being just perfect for my needs. That front pocket is deep enough to carry my wireless mouse, AirPods, mask, and at least one other thing of similar size without worry of it falling out. My laptop feels safe and secure in the terrycloth compartment and fits perfectly (MacBook Pro 14"). And the main compartment is perfect for my water bottle (32oz), cables, chargers, wireless keyboard, notepad, etc. Good little package and helps keep me from needing a bigger, bulkier bag.

This is a nice product. It has not water bottle pouch.

I don't recall how old my bag is...so it's possible they've resolved this issue but within a month of having it, it began wearing out where my the corner of my laptop rubbed against the inside fabric. I was incredibly disappointed at how quickly this happened. I should have brought it in at the time but I didn't. Otherwise, I have loved the bag...and any other wear and tear is to be expected over time (like the peeling of the detailing and the drawstring). I'll still buy another bag but may not be this model if nothing has changed in the inside construction.

It's a nice backpack with a nice print. I can hold at least 3 law books in there which is perfect. The only drawback is the piece at the end of the drawstring keeps falling off (and I had to spend an he figuring out how to reattach it)…which is a minor inconvenience, but for the price it's worth noting.

Beautiful backpack - good quality, fits everything you need for a day. However, there it's a nightmare to fing anything once you put it inside - there is NO small pockets inside (even to put your keys, or phone, or sunglasses). This is something that needs fast improvment - but it seems that Herschel is not doing anything to change that (as the same feedback is in different reviews, that are like 2-3 years old...). If you ask for review, then do something with it :)

I bought the red one, the colour is vibrant and the quality is nice, I like the straps and the inner pocket for notebook in particular. However, there are room for improvement for the design of compartments of this backpack. It is quite incovenient for me to dig out my wallet or Octopus card from this big bag. It would be great if there are more inner pockets or have a zip at the back, so that I can get something small from the backpack without turning it around and dig them out.

This is a huge bag and it is awesome for school. My kiddo in grade 3 can easily fit her lunch bag, swim stuff, a change of clothes AND her agenda in the backpack. There are two huge waterbottle pockets that are made of the same sturdy backpack fabric (not mesh), one on each side of the bag, that fit tall water bottles (a struggle for some other backpacks). My reason for a three star rating is that what the bag offers is size, it lacks in organization. There is only one TINY square front pocket, that is open (no snap, magnet or zipper). The laptop pocket on the inside is good; but the “hidden zipper pocket” is just a zipper that leads into the laptop sleeve, inside the bag. It would be nice if there were a couple zippered pockets on the interior of the bag for things like lip chap, keys, headphones etc.

Good bag, very big backpack, as beautiful as presented but honestly, the conception is just lacking. There's no inner pockets except the computer padded compartment. It's basically just a huge computer bag, with no pockets, I'm not asking for much, just a zipped pocket to put keys, so I don't have to throw everything down the bag and fumble for ages to find anything. It's a huge NO for me. Not convenient nor user friendly. I have sold it on vinted a week after getting it. Pure waste.
