My 16 and 11 yr old sons have been in robotics clubs for 4 years. Though these are not programmable robots and actually just RC battle vehicles, they are incredibly well designed and well made. Everything works just as instructed and designed. Those who have paring issues probably didn't read directions well or aren't patient. Yes some pieces fall off easily, BY DESIGN! That's the only way to defeat your opponent! If they stayed on better, you'd tear up the toy. So, yes, you often knock your armor off yourself. The remotes ARE difficult as they are VERY tiny. Batteries do run down after 4-5 hours, but considering they are AAA and are operating 3 motors almost continuously, they last a decent time. Arena builds great, but you must do it right! SLIDE the corners completely into their slots. The combinations and styles of battles are very extensive (weapons or no weapons or weapon v blade-“ground game”) and are keeping the whole family occupied for hours of repeat play as everyone learns to drive and battle better. Incorporating BATTLEBOT rules like 3 minute rounds, 10 second mercy rule for pinned/robot, etc. also help alleviate frustration.
I purchased as a gift for my 11 year old son. He specifically wanted this one to customize the bots. It looks to be of good quality and packaged well. shipping was quick and it arrived undamaged.
i bought this for my 10 yr old son. He loves it.
My 9 year old was so happy to receive this for Christmas! He was able to build the bots and control them easily. It has been a fun game for him to play with his dad!
Remote controls not the best but otherwise a solid fun item for kids.
My kid loved this! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the bots and remotes are very hard to pair properly. We usually end up with two bots being operated with one remote.
My son is 8 years old and really enjoyed switching the weapons out on these battlebots. The flipper is too strong because the force would actually make all the pieces fall off before starting the battle. The batteries do run out fairly quickly depending how long you battle for. the controls have to be paired separately on different channels because they will randomly pair to one remote. Overall her enjoyed but for the money I expected it to not have so many issues.
One of the BattleBots is completely defective. The weapons on it don't work at all, but they work fine on the other one. There seems to be some mechanical defect. Also the battery doors click on workout a real screw and they kept falling off while in use. That door holds the wheels on so it was really frustrating whenever this would happen.
The remotes don't work and are really finicky. Bought for my sons 8 birthday and would be super cool if they worked but I'm left with a disappointed child as they only worked for a minute or two
Manufacturing on the hex bugs sub par. The arena does not fit together properly and the wiring in the bots was not completed, one did not work out of the box.
