The picture quality is great. I don't have a need for the smart features because I own an Apple TV so I don't use the TV's built in smarts! I came from a 40-inch Hisense (HD 1080p TV, not smart, not 4K) and after a day of having this tv I noticed that I lost some of the features that I loved having with my old tv. The HDMI-CEC no longer works how it's supposed to and there's no ARC connection for my soundbar (even though there is an option for it in the sound settings). Also sometimes, if the tv has been off for a time and I turn it on I have to unplug it because it won't detect a signal from connected devices. Other than those few issues the TV is perfect. Like I said before, the quality of the video or photos being displayed are phenomenal!!
The picture quality is absolutely amazing. The apps available are OK but a lot of them are obviously aimed toward the Asian market. The built-in web browser is nice but I have yet to find a wireless keyboard that will work with this set. Using the remote isn't very convenient and can be frustrating. All in all, this TV is a great bargain and I'm pleased with my purchase.
I didn't really need a smart tv. In fact I ordered a cheaper 50" 4k of a different brand that didn't have "smarts", but it arrived with a cracked screen. When I returned it to the store, I decided to buy whatever I could find at the store that would do the job, because I didn't want to wait another week, and this was the only one that fit the bill. I did have to pay an extra $68 for the smart function. That being said, I was very pleased with the picture and sound quality of this tv. We discovered that the "vivid" video setting fit our needs perfectly. The sound is really good right out of the box, so we will not be needing a sound bar! I do really feel like we got a lot for $298.00, and we shall see how it holds up. I did purchase the 3 year protection plan for $26 because I am not very familiar with this brand, and I hope I'll never have to use it. Now for the reasons I gave this 4 stars instead of 5; It mostly has to do with the "smart" part of the tv. The app selection is very limited. My two main apps I use are Directv Now, and Amazon Video. Neither of these are available at all for this tv. I find it a little ironic that I can enable Alexa on this tv, but I cannot watch my Prime videos. Also no Hulu yet either. the apps seem to play HD video with no problems, but out of the box, the tv would freeze up when playing 4k videos on Youtube, and Pluto, requiring me to unplug and plug in the tv to reset it. After the software update, it no longer freezes. Now it seems to buffer a lot. I know the issue is not from my internet connection because I have 100 mb/s cable and I am using the ethernet connection instead of wireless. What I have done is installed a 4k Fire Tv pendant on Hdmi 1, and set the HDMI 2.0 to the "enhanced" option. I have this also on an ethernet adapter. This unit gives me all of my needed apps, and streams 4k content from Youtube, Pluto, and Amazon Prime with no problems at all. I wish I could have bought this tv without the "smart" part, and saved a little money.
Only issue is the Smart TV interface, it's slow to respond, 5+ seconds to bring up the input selection, or Apps selection. Otherwise it's a wonderful TV!
For starters, from the first week I bought it I have had to unplug almost everyday as it locks up incessantly while using youtube and other installed apps, it is not android or I phone friendly, and is very limited when it comes to usefully apps. The picture quality and sound are impressive just not a fan of the software.....
The screen on this TV intermittently loses picture during certain moments. It is not a backlight issue, because the TV's menu still comes up. The only way to regain the picture is to either switch input sources or power cycle the TV. Other than that, the TV works fine, however, this issue is very irritating.
tv freezes when you change inputs. and the screen goes black randomly when hooked op to and pc, on any input. was an ok tv before it started doing this. you get what you pay for i guess.
Let me start by saying that I can't believe that the reviews on THIS site make little to no mention of the poor APP functionality on this TV. Do a google search and you'll find thousands of issues with Hulu, Netflix and the Youtube apps on this brand of smart TV. Firmware upgrade is the most common response, though almost no one has had it fix the problem. My H6 does not find an update using the TV support app, nor does the website have one available to download. Internet connectivity is awful at best. I'm less than ten feet from my wireless router and it has trouble keeping a connection. No other device in my house has this issue, so I know it can only be the TV. However, the picture quality is very good. My three HDMI gaming devices look really good on it. HDR is not the best compared to my Samsung TV, but their is a slight improvement over non-HDR media. You wont get blown away by it, but it's fine. Games play well on it with little to no screen blur. I've had the TV for a couple of months. The price was very low, which is why I gave it a shot, but if you have a few hundred dollars more to spend, then I would pass on this TV and get the better name brands. I'm giving this review two stars simply because the image quality, price, good remote control, and ease of setup/use. I would have gladly given it a higher rating, but I'm having to use the apps from my gaming systems rendering the "smart" functionality of this TV pretty much useless. I would not recommend this TV to anyone nor will I re-buy the brand.
Purchased in June 2018, worked great for a few weeks. First problems was when using apps they would freeze up, it's like the remote stopped working, had to unplug the tv then plug it back in to get it to work. Then the volume would not work, across all inputs, until i unplugged and plugged back in, every few days. Now I have to unplug and plug back in 3 or 4 times a day to keep the volume working. Now today, the input button on the remote doesn't work, it detects the hdmi devices just no way to access them. It switches itself randomly from home mode to store mode, according to the manual you should only be able to switch between them by doing a factory reset
Remote has worked intermittently since the tv was about a week old. I have had it repaired twice, still has not resolved the issue. Customer service for Hisense has been horrible.
