The assembly of the stand is ridiculous. You have to take the plastic cover off 2 times.Could have been assembled much easier.Doesn't need a cover anyway.
i liked the built in Google home feature that allows me to control my smart appliances from the tv menu!
Good size, good picture, good quality
Read a ton of reviews and it lives up to all of them 1 month in
I had purchased the U6 with Fire TV and loved it, but unfortunately it had a defect (poor uniformity, dark persistent shadow in one section) so I decided to "upgrade" and get the Hisense "flagship" U8. First thing I noticed is the shipping weight is at least 10 pounds more than the U6, the U8 has a VERY heavy steel center mounted base where the U6 had two simple plastic feet (which honestly I think I prefer). Install was simple (some people report problems assembling the stand, I don't know why - it couldn't be any easier) and once it powered up WOW! The display is simply astounding, I ran a quick uniformity test on it (to make sure it didn't have the same problem that the U6 did) and it was perfect with pitch-black blacks - now to start customizing it to work with my audio visual equipment. Walmart limits how much detail you can provide so I'm going to be brief here - the HDMI-CEC is buggy, Hisense has known about a bug in the firmware that prevents volume level numbers from being displayed and hasn't fixed it in over a year so you don't know how high your volume when using an external AVR/amplifier. After I got the hardware working OK, I tried to install all of my apps, including Xfinity Stream and Watch TCM That's when I discovered they are NOT SUPPORTED ON THIS GOOGLE TV!!!! You can't install them! I had to resort to plugging in a Roku stick just to access those two apps - now WHY in the world would I want a $1,000 streaming TV that doesn't support two of my favorite popular apps, and have to keep a SEPARATE streaming device (including its remote) JUST for that?!?!? I learned later this applies to the Spectrum app too, can't use it on this Google TV! I'm going to keep this TV for now at least, but honestly I'm greatly disappointed and cannot recommend it other than as a "dumb" 4K panel with incredible color, blacks and brightness - all of the other "features" have issues and the inability to use popular streaming apps like Xfinity Stream, Spectrum and Watch TCM are a deal breaker for me. This is my first and LAST "Google TV", never again!
Broken at time of delivery
I was really excited when purchased . It arrived with holes in the box on sides 😲 plugged it in and it was damaged. I took back to the store and they refunded.
