I purchased a 55-inch Hisense TV, and when it was delivered, there were no obvious signs of damage from the outside. However, as soon as we plugged it in and turned it on, we discovered that the screen was completely cracked.
We immediately contacted Walmart customer service. The representative told us that all we needed to do was bring the TV to a Walmart store to return it, and they even provided us with a return barcode.
The next day, we carried this huge TV, loaded it into our car, and drove about 30 minutes to a Walmart store. When we arrived, however, we were told that their system could not process the return at all.
We called customer service again, and this time, they told us to take the TV to another nearby Walmart store and try again. We were extremely frustrated, but we followed their instructions. There was a major storm in New York that day and it was pouring rain, yet we still had to drag this large TV to a second Walmart location.
Once again, we got exactly the same result: their system could not process the return.
We called customer service yet again, but no one was able to provide us with a proper solution. Eventually, we were told that because the TV was purchased online, it could not be returned to a physical Walmart store and would have to be shipped back to Walmart instead.
If that was the case from the beginning, why did Walmart customer service repeatedly tell us to bring this huge TV to physical stores to return it?
We wasted an entire day driving around New York, carrying a large broken TV from one Walmart location to another, simply trying to resolve an issue with a $300 television. This was an unbelievable waste of our time and energy, especially considering that we followed Walmart customer service's instructions every step of the way.
This has honestly been one of the worst shopping experiences I have ever had. For a company as large as Walmart, I am extremely disappointed by how poorly this situation was handled and by the lack of coordination between customer service and the physical stores.
After this experience, I have completely lost confidence in Walmart's customer service and will not be purchasing anything from Walmart again.
