I'm a weekend project guy. I don't have alot of money to spend, BUT, I don't want to buy something cheap that's not gonna work or last either. I looked at 3 brands of 10" saws and this one had the best features for the money. I spent just a little more for the Hitachi, but I think it was worth it. There's no other saw I know of that comes with a 5 year warranty either. For the work I need it to do, I'm glad I got it !
I use this tool every weekend for my projects. I have all portable tools and set them up each weekend and take down at the end of the day. This saw is light enough to set atop my rolling tool chest and work it from there. The laser is perfect. It lets me know just where the cut will be - helps me during set-ups. I make furniture from pallet wood so the majority of my cross cuts are well within the 5.5ish max width cuts for this chop saw. Very nice saw - very helpful and efficient.
I did my reasearch and it paid off. Perfect out of the box including quality blade and laser. I used just for trim work. I cannot comment long term as it is back in the box in storage. This was affordable enough for me to purchase instead of hassling with renting beat up equipment, used blades, etc.
we had new flooring put down in our kitchen and I wanted the guy that laid down the flooring to do all the trim work, (which was ALOT of corners). Well to make it short he didn't, so we had to do it. I have never used a saw like this before and I have to say it was a piece of cake with this saw the laser helps to show you exactly where it will cut. I love this saw and I think that everyone needs a saw like this one. the job we did with this saw you would think that we were professionals at it.
I like the light weight for mobility, yet it seems to be well built. so far it has preformed like I hoped it would. The display in the store was great, and the salesman was very helpful in helping me deceide what saw would do the work that I needed it for.
I have only used the saw a couple of times, but it works great. The only thing that raises concern with me is that, even with the dust catching bag on, it doesn't catch much of the dust. I have a ton of dust on my garage floor and very little in the bag. But i do recommend this saw to everyone.
I would've rated this product higher but i Haven't used it a ton yet. what i have used it for i am extremely happy with this saw. It took me awhile to align the laser but once aligned, it was easy to get consistent cuts. I paired this saw with a table setup.
It's Light, Simple To Use, Compact, No-Frills Design Made This Saw My Best Option. The Price Is Certainly Right. I Dislike Lasers, So The On/Off Swith For That Is Much Appreciated (No Cutting Of Wires) It Can Tolerate 2X6's Without Any Strain Using Factory Blade. Some Tweaking of Angle adjustments was Required. The Dust Collection Bag Does A Poor Job Compared To 10-Inch Dewalts I've Used. The Wire Support Rack's Screw Stripped Out With One Bump, So That Does Not Stay Put Any Longer. But Overall, For What It Is, It Will Serve Me Well.
Setup is easy. Cuts great and on settings. But ... there was no hole in the gear case to allow sawdust to go into the bag. So dust flies everywhere. I drilled a hole in there but it still spews dust. Service center says it will still spew even if I got the case replaced. So I am examining dust cover alternatives.
Annoying safety feature in the on/off trigger mechanism makes it very difficult and cumbersome to use - not user friendly at a professional level. Additionally, any person with a smaller hand would find it almost impossible to activate and use. The safety button should be on the end of the handle unit to allow you to use your thumb in a more comfortable way. The placement of the laser switch to turn on and off is poorly placed on the lower part of the handle - in a recessed area. It would be better placed on the front of the handle as well as have a lighted button so that the user would know if is on of off. The disk on the "hold down" clamp is too large for smaller pieces of lumber.
