I needed a welder to weld light gauge steel such as auto body panels and mower decks. This Hobart Handler 140 is just what I needed to get the job done. Welds good from 22Ga to 1/4 in. Can not go wrong with a Hobart Welder.
I had a flex core welder. It was hard to get a good weld. After using this new gas welder I am able to get great welds.
Very happy so far, time will tell!
I originally bought the northern tool mig welder and it wasnt powerful enough, so i returned it for this great machine. The staff gave no problems with the return and didnt have the hobart 140 in stock so they got a manager from another store to personally drive it to my store the same day. With this type of customer service i will be coming back for more purchases. Oh yeah the welder is great too!
I too bought this welder on the advice of a professional welder. I was going to buy a 240 volt but he cautioned me that I was limiting where I could use it....why not a 120 volt? It does everything that I want as a novice mig welder.I would highly recommend this American machine. Parts can be found anywhere, and that's not always true of after-market stuff. I refused to buy the cheapie little welder cart because after all, I am supposed to create things and the cart was job #1. It probably cost 4 times the price of a cheap cart but I was forced to practice, engineer and build a good product....was fun!
Usually don't take the time to write reviews, but needed to take a moment to say that the reviews on this welder are very helpful. Rarely do you find a product that has 560+, 5 star reviews and believe them. With that said and now being an actual owner of this welder, I can attest to the accuracy of others testimonies. It is a fantastic welder, and with the right flux core welding wire, there, in my opinion is really no need for gas. With it however, I'm certain the results would be even better. Hope this helps others make a decision as it impressed me and the reviews helped this skeptic. One thing though, spend the extra $5 to purchase the flux core only tip as it helps get in to tight spots.
my friend bought one a few years ago and since i was a welder he ask me to try it out because i used industrial welders for 30 years. I was amazed by the smooth effertless welds. We tryed both the flux and fluxless wire and even the flux wire welded some dirty rusty metal so great we could hardly believe our eyes!I would definately recamend this welder.
This welder is a solid piece of equipment. It exceeds my expectations in every project i have used it on. I wish it came with a nozzle tip for flux core. Other than that, i have no complaints. It will last many years.
I bought this welder a couple months ago. I bought it as my first welder for my home projects and garage tinkering. It's worked well for me thus far and provided as much as heat as I've need. The accessories are feel good quality to me. The only issue is that the door that you lift to install wire, see the wire chart, etc. was a little lopsided. It's held in with plastic components, so not the best quality but overall it's a non-issue. As a beginner myself, I think this is a solid welder for someone who is still hesitant to go with the cheaper Harbor Freight machines.
I have only welded a small time before deciding I loved it and went to buy a mig welder I did a lot of research and this is by far the best bang for your buck easy simple machine. Positives. Cheap Easy Weld any material Its a Hobart whets not to love Negative Can’t weld to think of material Small duty cycle 110v Over all it is a great machine I give it four stars
