Hobart SpoolRunner 100 Direct Plug-in Spool Gun

This item has seemed to be good so far.

I have used several different spoolgun products over the years, and this package mated to a MVP210 gave me PERFECT welds right out of the box using the suggested settings. Very smooth (don't get too close, you want the electrode to "spray off" rather than make a short contact). Used straight Argon.

Modified my Hobart Handler 140 to accept this SpoolRunner 100 using BR Welders Kit and everything worked great - both original Gun and this Spool Gun. I'm a beginner aluminum welder and started with a aluminum garden hose mount as my first project. It was pretty easy using this spool gun to make acceptable looking welds for a beginner! I'm very happy with this purchase of Hobart products. Both Welder and Spool Gun works great!

Just got it for aluminum welding and used it three times so far. Had a little trouble getting the small plastic cover off to route the wire through the drive wheel, but after that works great. Easy to use and no aluminum wire jams.

I havent gotten a ton of time welding with this yet, but Im starting to get the hang of it. Its definitely different than mig welding steel with reg gun. It takes a bit to get used to letting the wire hang out so much. (if you dont it burns back up the tip and pretty much destroys them). But i was getting decent looking welds w/o a ton of effort. It is for sure more difficult to do thin stuff and I can see where a tig welder would probably be nicer if your doing a lot of alum...but this seems worth it for me,,at least for now

Actually haven't used the gun yet. Seems like a solid product. Bought it for some aluminum welding. Gave it 4 stars since I haven't put it through its paces yet.

Certainly gets you welding aluminum in a hurry, you really can't weld anything thinner than 1/16” aluminum... you really need 1/8” minimum to work well. If you use 3/16” or thicker, then it becomes pretty easy. All and all I'm happy with it.

works as it should but could be built with better quality this would make this spool gun a excellent choice should be available with an optional longer lead other than that its fine.

I purchased the product about 14 months ago. Use was far less than production level but frequent. I have consumed approximately 30 spools of aluminum. The motor burned up and no replacement is available. So I am regrettably having to purchase a new one. Knowing what I can expect from this one, I am hard pressed to get the same unit. Pro's, light weight, not very expensive. Con's, spool tension adjustment varies with spool level, non movable spool or nozzle makes tight spaces impossible, lack of major repair parts.

Not happy my 210 Hobart works good but my spoolrunner 100 doesn't work called Northern they tell you to call Hobart we will see what they do I have only had it for four days
