I bought this little welder and a Generic 6500 to teach myself how to stick weld and it works Fantastically. I know how to tig and mig weld i do it professionally but I never got the hang of stick welding. With this cheap little Machine my skills have gotten a lot better. The hot start function is amazing I don't stick the rod half as much as I used to. It's perfect for home projects and up at the farm. Highly recommend for beginners or home Hobbies.
Welds nice once you get it dialed in
My favor place and always will be, that's why I'm a member
This little welder gets the job done big or small. Very portable and going to buy a generator to use it around the farm.
I bought my first Stickmate160i about a year ago, and have put about a half dozen pounds of assorted rods through their paces with it. It's a terrific machine in every way: Light but durable; easily controlled; good leads, grounds clamp, and stinger; easy to strike and hold an arc (I use 6013, 6011, 7018). When I needed a second unit, I didn't hesitate to hit the "order again" button.
For home use this does really well. It even ran well enough on a 3000 watt generator to weld some 1/8” steel on the 120V mode. Also has been used to weld some heavier steel on 240V input and so far has been flawless. Very light and portable and just a great purchase!
After using a three other comparable welders, I happened across the Hobart 160. After putting it through several welding projects, I chose the Hobart due to it's ability to produce superior welds and the quality of the components. Spend a few extra dollars and buy the Hobart. It's worth it
I'm just a hobby welder. It has a nice of an arc as anything else I've used. I will say it's more consistent. The only thing that I didn't like was the IP21S rating. I read somewhere, could've been the manual, that it wasn't rated for outdoors use. Especially if it's wet or damp. Other than that, I'm happy.
Haven't done any welding for thirty years and thought I needed something to do. Unit is easy to understand and works well.Love being able to use 120V. Was a little pricey but has a better warranty than most. Only complaint is the power switch is on the back instead of the front.
Advertised an item for a good price. Purchased it, waiting 2 weeks then they cancelled it because either they did not have the item or did not want to honor the advertised price. This company also goes under another name. Buyer beware....
