I wish I had spent a few extra dollars to get the automatic reverse feature, but for the price of this model, it serves my needs. Noise level is exactly what one would expect, and it is still soft enough to be just white noise. A family member is recovering from a surgery and this fan is sufficient to circulate air in that 9x12 bedroom, as well as providing the white noise to hide sounds from other rooms. I purchased a second fan to use in another bedroom as well.
I love Holmes products. I have had a Holmes fan that I bought at Wal-Mart probably 7 or 8 years ago. It has run all night for that long and still going strong. Holmes Fans are the best. I love the window fans, and I thought my order was not going to be filled so I ordered them from Amazon at the same price that you sold them and they were delivered to my house. I then found out that the fans I ordered from you were delivered so I picked them up. It was a hassle as I had to make 2 trips to get them and for the same price and more convenient I will check on Amazon first before I order Ship to Store again. It's a long way back to the back of the store also.
These are inexpensive and can be turned around in the window to reverse airflow. I bought a second one and I use them in a push - pull configuration. One exhausts hot and from the house and the other pulls in cool air from outside. These use about 45 watts each and are much less expensive than a/c when the night time temperature is cool.
My purpose for purchasing this fan is to exhaust smoke from my Mom's house. Although the wind currently blows towards the window which houses the exhaust fan, in the summer, in Florida, I expect that the fan will help keep the house less smoky. For now, it has helped exhaust the smoke a bit, but for the price, I'm happy. Also, I chose the least expensive shipping method and the fan arrived before expected. Thank you.
Picked up this fan from site to store which was very fast. This fan was one of the cheaper window fans available and I didn't want to spend $60 for a fan. It is very quiet even on the high setting and is reversible with controls on opposite side. The only thing with reversing is that you have to manually have to turn it around which isn't a big deal and not worth spending an extra $40 for an automatic option.
The fan is smaller than I thought it would be, but it does the job of pulling in the outside air. Great for spring and fall where I live, when I want to draw in the cool outdoor air to reduce my air conditioning bill. The fan wasn't as wide as the window, but that wasn't a problem. It does seem rather flimsy so I wonder about its lifespan, but it wasn't very expensive. I figure if I only use it as needed seasonally, and keep ti clean and packed away when not in use, it will probably provide me my money's worth very well. I'm not disappointed.
This is a good fan. I had another Holmes that I had bought at Walmart several years ago but it finally burned up. This one was a bit more inexpensive than that one but is still a good fan. The only complaint I have about it is that it is a bit noisier and has a very slight hum. Being on a limited income I had to choose something a bit less expensive than the first one I had but a window fan is a life saver in the bedroom to pull in some cooler air since the bedroom gets ALL of the afternoon and early evening sun! The picture of it is very precise and you get what it shows.
First of all Walmart did a fantastic job of getting my order shipped to store. It arrived in 4 days. The fan itself is a good value for the product. This unit is the smallest of them all, and does a fairly good job. It has no electronic gadgets on it, simple off, low, and high. If you choose to reverse it you'll need to open the window and flip it around. One side of the fan has a curtain, the other side can be a curtain or removable, for locking it into a window track. I give the fan's (I bought 2) a 4.6 out of 5.
This has a very load hum to it compared to previous similar versions of this fan I have owned. I purchased it to pull hot air out of the room, it seems to blow a lot out the other side, but not really "pulling" from the inside. This may be better as intake, I will try that in a different room window, but not good for intended purpose, and it is very loud, brand new out of the box. This also feels very much more flimsy than previous models. I did get it on sale, so I am glad I did not pay full price.
After reading all the reviews I really expected to be getting a well working product for a good price. The price isn't bad at all but the fan itself is not what I expected. When you stand in front of it you can't even feel it, and that's on high. I had to put my hand right on it to even feel a very small amount of wind from it. I actually thought maybe I had it facing the wrong way by accident so I took it out and turned it around only to find that I had it right the first time. Very disappointing, I will be returning it in the morning and just getting a box fan that will move more air and can also be turned around to pull air out of the room too.
