This big old thing will blast you with the summertime fave - cold freaking air. If you can lift this linebacker into your house you will have it made for the summer. I'm used to getting an a/c that pretty much cools the living room. This a/c cools the living room.

I like it so far Iv has it for three days and it's gotten my apartment down to 15.7°c from 28°c I have it set on 59°f the AC unit and so far it's doing its job not to loud it's got some noise but hey want air-conditioning unit doesn't lol I hope it helps people it's definitely worth the buy by far better then the stupid crap danby one I got that didn't cool anything not even the bathroom...

the AC unit itself don't seam to be to bad but the attachments on each end of the vent hose are really cheaply made you barely get one turn of thread on the hose which is definitely not enough to hold in place i had to use a lot of duct tape on each end which looks like crap and the vent hose needs to be at least 3 foot longer as well as the small drain hose But the unit seams to be cooling just fine but I guess for 300 dollars im happy with it

Sadly, I am disappointed and will probably return this unit for a refund this week. I am familiar with this style of portable unit. The package arrived in good shape. After a careful installation, I let the unit stand for 48 hours before turning it on. The instructions only require 24 hours but I try to take better care of my stuff. This was rated at 12,000BTU and needs over 11 amps. It replaced my previous portable Haier AC unit of the same style which was rated at 10,000 BTU and needed 8.9 amps. * The Haier seemed to do a better job at cooling the same space. The Homcom unit only has roughly half of the width of the grille area open to try to accomplish the same job. * The air outlet hose was shorter than the Haier unit so I had to make a wooden box and prop it up to reach the window. It would have been really nice to have another 1 foot of air outlet hose. * With a set of fresh batteries, the remote does not reach the unit very well and I need to bounce the signal off of the ceiling. The characters used on both the control panel and the remote screen are very small and very difficult to see for a senior citizen or anyone who needs to use reading glasses. * Contrary to the manual, my unit does not remember settings in the cooling mode after being turned off by the remote. Since the remote does not reach well, I have to walk over and manually turn it on and set the mode and fan speed every time I want to use it. * Although advertised for 550 sq. ft. It does a reasonable (but not a great job) of cooling a 314 sq. ft. space on a late summer/early fall day, in my north woods cabin. It has to work hard to bring the temperature down from 79 degrees to 72 degrees for a small living room, vestibule area and kitchen with an outdoor temperature of 76 degrees. * The drain tubing arrived kinked in two spots and I have made a few attempts to straighten it out but it keeps going back to that kinked position. I have had to mop up the floor. This might be a good option for a garage or a work shed; I was excited about it originally but sadly, it is not meeting my needs.
