I have a small den that would not accept a LARGE desk. This desk is just right for the room! Not bulky or imposing

Desk

Good quality heavy desk. Much of it seems to be solid wood. Not too hard to put together by myself. Directions were about a D+.

Perfect Addition to my Office

Lake Powell Or Bust. February 5, 2015

I am so thrilled with my new desk! It arrived with lots of packing which assured that it would be safe and sound. The pieces were marked visibly; the directions were very well-written; assembling it was a ""piece of cake"". As soon as it was assembled and moved in place, I knew that I had a treasure. When I added my desktop essentials--computer, lamp, phone, etc. I had to take a picture and send to all of my friends. The appearance is breath-taking. My first day working at this desk was a wonderful experience. I feel like I have received a promotion and a raise in pay! The wood is solid unlike any other self-assembly pieces I have seen. The hardware is also quality and easy to handle. I did use a power screwdriver rather than the little wrench provided. The drawers fit perfectly. The finish is dark, well oiled, and shines like new money. The style of furniture fits me perfectly. All of the product is finished in first class materials. I could not be happier!

The initial desk came damaged (top and one of the drawer rails) but an email and some pictures later, everything was replaced without fuss. Assembly wasn't too complicated, but, if you're not accustom to assembling desks, make sure you leave some extra time.

Take your time,

PMC March 7, 2021

Overall this is a nice desk for the price. It has quite a bit of visual appeal when completed. The legs and draw fronts are solid wood, the front drawer surround, the back pieces, and the top are wood veneer. Due to the veneer, the top will have a repeating matched grain across the surface, but looks fine, and the repeat is less noticeable if you use a desk pad to protect your work are as I do. Everything matches well and the desk looks nice when fully assembled. NOTES TO CONSIDER; In order to have a long lasting and sturdy desk I STRONGLY advise taking your time and using a good quality wood glue on all joints, dowels, drawer pieces, and on the back lower leg brace in particular. That leg brace is only held in place by one screw and an unglued dowel at each end as delivered, and it will move if not glued. Using wood glue and a long pipe clamp (Could use a racheting strap or other strap/rope device) to pull tight while the glue dries ensured a strong bond. Be sure to test fit all pieces BEFORE gluing, and ensure proper alligment when glued and curing. I test fit the outer drawers and for some reason, they were better alligned when I switched them from left to right and right to left before gluing them. When done, I put small felt pads where the drawer fronts contact the desk when closing. This provides a softer and quieter close. The drop front middle drawer does not have any magnet catch or catch of any type to hold it firmly in the upright position. I may add a type of catch to prevent the drawer front from folding down when I do not intend for it to do so. I also but a little felt pad between the drawer face and where it contacts the actual drawer side for two reasons; 1) To hel fill the gap of space and make the drawer front stand more vertical (vs. tilting in a bit), and 2) To soften the close as well. One of the cam-lock fasteners on my desk did not work well, and I ended up adding a couple small metal angle brackets that I had on hand to hold the desk back and drawer support pieces together. I am not sure, but I may have screwed the pin that the cam locks to in a little too far possibly. There are no stops or depth indictor on the pins to help set the depth, so that may have been an issue that prevented the cam lock from lining up properly??? I have used these types of cam locks on other assemble yourself cabinets and furniture, and I am never very impressed with them... and they can work loose which is another reason for gluing. When done, I even put a little glue on the cam locks to help ensure they do not lossen. The desk came packaged pretty well and had no shipping damage, however there was a little defect on one of the leg pieces. I called the manufcturer on the phone number provided on the box and with the instructions. They were super pleasant and helpful. They sent out a replacement part right away with no questions and I had it within a few days. I never had to involved Walmart with the issue.
