Beautiful Piece of Furniture

Bones February 23, 2017

This island is absolutely beautiful. The one I purchased has a marble top. It is a quality piece of furniture and well worth the price I paid. It was very easy to put together. It is not cheap or flimsy. Lots of drawer space & shelf space. I have received many compliments on it. I LOVE IT!!

This kitchen island is AWESOME!!!!

loves a bargain December 5, 2010

We have a large kitchen but not enough counter space. We considered having an island custom built but the quotes were above $1000. When we saw this ""build your own"" kitchen island with the wood color choices and granite tops we thought we'd give it a shot! WOW! The wood veneer we chose (country oak) is a close enough match and the black & white granite blends in and makes the piece look like it belongs! It took my husband all day to put it together but we still feel it was worth it. The bottom (cabinet base) & the top (granite slab) arrive separately & the boxes are VERY heavy so I would recommend you get a strong friend to help you. One of the doors didn't quite match up to the magnetic closure but if you lift it a tad then it closes just fine, it's also a small price to pay for such a lovely kitchen island. So far it's been finished and up in our Kitchen for only 2 days and we've used it non-stop!!! We are REALLY pleased with this purchase and would recommend it!

island fever

Joshua January 26, 2014

NYC isn't known for kitchens or kitchen space so adding an island is ideal. The buliding of it was as expected about 3 hours for the 2 of us. Glad the hinges were already put on. I agree the drawer depth is short but workable. The wheels don't lock as tight as I prefer. It would be great to have the option for feet or wheels rather than wheels only.

Just what I needed

misha June 28, 2014

I have been looking at a floating Island Cart for my kitchen, almost as long as we have lived in our house. But had put it off for years. The one thing I hated about our home was the kitchen. I like to cook, but only had 2 small sections of counter space just over 2 feet each. The Home Style Kitchen Island fits perfectly in my small kitchen, and adds over 3 1/2 feet of counter top. It rolls very easily, so it can move to where I need it when I need it, and can live along the wall when not needed. I ordered it last weekend, and it was delivered on Thursday. Thursday night I dedicated to putting it together. The actual base went together very easily. The drawers were a bit time consuming, and I did not properly pickup which way was front, so had to take the first drawer I did apart to get the rails to face the correct direction. But that was readily done. I also missed that there were two different size screws, the long ones for screwing the sides together and the short ones to lock in the bottoms, but again that was not a big deal, and was easily corrected. The only real issue I had putting this together was with the granite top. First off, it was not clear which way was front, had to figure it out from the pre-drilled holes. The Granite top itself is glued to a wood section that is cut to fit just into the base of the cart. There are four metal nuts embedded in this base to use to use to fasten the top to the base of the cart with screws. The problem I had was that there was putty over these, and it was unclear that they were there. In one case, especially I truly thought it was missing, but eventually I was able to dig down enough to find it. Once I got that cleaned out, putting the top on became easy. The only other issue was the left door hinge was not quite right. It was catching on the side, and though you could get it to close, it tended to pop open. I had to loosen the screws and pull it out a bit and then retighten which seems to have resolved the issue. Now that it is together, it is a solid piece of furniture, and look really good. I am very pleased with the purchase. As others have said, the drawers are a bit small, but I'm using the top one now to hold my wife's favorite teas, the bottom one to hold kitchen towels. The side cabinets are more then roomy enough for my pots ( not the frying pan and pots with long handles.) As well as mixing bowls and tins. All and all this is a great addition to my kitchen, and I'm certain that I will appreciate it greatly as I prepare meals in the future.

Almost Perfect

Kim May 4, 2009

I researched islands for a couple weeks before finally pulling the trigger on this one. It took my friend and I about 2 hours to put together - the directions are easy to follow. But...we had one hole that did not line up so we had to improvise. My only complaint is that the drawers are pretty small - you can't fit an average sized box of tin foil or cling wrap in them. They're basically big enough for potholders, spices, etc. But all in all, I am very happy with it!!

I love my new kitchen island!

kris January 4, 2009

The island is a quality product. I thought it would be cheaper looking, but it looks very nice. The granite countertop is great! I knew from other comments that the storage space was on the smaller side, so I was prepared for that. But, the storage really does help me out a great deal. And the extra counter space for preparing a meal and at Christmas, for baking cookies, is fantastic!

I like it!

Sylvia January 28, 2009

I am using our island to add more counter space and storage in our kitchen. It also filled up an empty wall quite nicely and I added matching shelves over to display platters and bowls. The whole ensamble is astetically pleasing and functionable. I was able to move my slow cooker, grilling tools and roasting pans and various other things out of my cabinets creating neater, less cramped storage. We made the top, our coffee station, clearing off our counters and stored all our coffee supplies in the unit. It all worked out great for us! The price was great too. Thier was free shipping and 15% off, plus I went searching for a promo code and got an additional 60$ off. I was VERY pleased!

Assembly makes this buy not worth it...

Nana B. June 3, 2011

My husband and I have been working for about 3 days trying to assemble this junk. Half of the pieces aren't labeled so we have spent most of our time trying figure out what's what. Now we're almost done with it and the holes on the counter piece do not line up with the base. All this time and money we've spent on this has been a complete waste. This is by far the worst purchase we've ever made. Don't make the same mistake we did. We saw that a good number of people had an easy go of it and thought we could do it. We were very wrong. This is nothing but a piece of junk.

Poor craftsmanship and parts

Never again February 19, 2008

Several pieces didn't fit and had pre-drilled holes mistakingly in the wrong position that were filled in with putty to cover them up. After asking for replacement parts for these, I received pieces still didn't fit and were of a different grain, stain and cut than the original product. Eventually I just said screw it and cut my losses. Overall, I'm not satisfied with this product. For what it costs, you'd expect finer attention to detail in matching parts.
