This is great for making shelf stable cream of anything soup. It also comes in handy when you only need a small amount for a recipe, but don't want to buy a whole container of fresh heavy cream. I think for the price versus what you get, it's a little expensive, but again, if you don't use heavy cream often, it's worth it.
After discarding the second half of many cartons of cream because it spoiled before I could use it all, I find this a wonderful solution. This dried powder version of heavy cream is authenticate cream, but in a shelf stable form that can be kept on a cool, dark shelf or in the fridge (recommended just prior to each use) for long times, until needed. This is a great substitute for the heavy cream needed in small quantities at irregular intervals for recipes. Not recommended on label for use as a coffee creamer.
im doing Keto and i just cant drink my coffee black and i dont want to have to go to another floor to the fridge every time i get a cup of coffee. this is low carb and i can keep it over the coffee pot. It takes a while to dissolve. i like the taste and i can make cocoa with it without using milk, which is not low carb.
Love this stuff . As a baker I'm always out out heavy cream when I need it . Bought this as a substitute for when I'm out of cream. I use it to thicken sauces and my husband puts it in his coffee . You do have to whisk it good or I use a coffee frother. Also excellent for making ahead of time and leaving in fridge.
useful in recipes that I use, I know that there are many uses for this product that I have yet to try!
I use heavy cream a lot. Mixture needs to have something added to it to thicken better. If you are looking for strong peaks that hold shape, buy the liquid. As just an addition to dessert or gravy, it works fine. I add cornstarch to my gravies and tastes great and thickens well. I think it is overpriced, but best I have found so far.
I bought this powder as a quick coffee creamer. I did not notice that the Walmart website gave the following warning that the Hoosier Hill Farm website did, " Please note that this is not a powdered coffee creamer or an instant cream powder and will not dissolve instantly in liquid." Thus, it did not meet my expectations. That said, I think it is a quality product and specifically does not contain emulsifiers which I think is why it does not dissolve in water quickly. I won't buy it again for the above reason, but it is a good product for it's intended purposes in my opinion.
I got this for coffee at work because its shelf stable and I dont have access to a refrigerator at work. I am using this in my coffee for the keto diet. Does not taste like the liquid heavy cream. But maybe if you were using it for cooking it would be ok. Also it is very expensive compared to the liquid (4x the price)
Not as good quality as other brands for the same price. Too much lactose in it compared to other brands. This has more milk and less 'cream'. I can handle cream just fine however, but not this. It gives me bloating and stomachache. Guess I will stick to real cream, and real cream powder.
Very watery despite instructions to leave in fridge overnight. Not suitable for most cooking purposes
