Hooyman 5 ft. Extendable Tree Saw 1001

I purchased a "Saw in a Can" that was advertised as the ultimate camping accessory and got good reviews. I don't know if the reviewers ever tried using it but it broke after sawing only 2 small 1" branches and you had to climb up the tree to use it. This saw is robust, packs away real small and is useable as a saw at the full 5ft extension. The blade is good for lopping of tree branches and I love it. Maybe a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for and this works great.

The instructions were a little confusing, but I figured them out. I had a couple of branches touching the house

Easy lightweight and very good quality

This compact saw works very well for triming branches while sitting in hunting tree stand.

This saw is the right size to put in your pack and a must for hanging stands of all kinds.

First item is the connection of the saw to the pole. The fitting was too tight and I had to file down the pole's edge to have a better fit. The lock on one of the extension does not lock in the open position. Pulling the section out with much effort will line up the locking hole with the lock itself. Looks like something in the extension prevents the section from fully extending out. On the positive note, the saw cuts wood like a hot knife on butter. Much better than the other hand saws I have. I decided since the saw's benefit outweighs the extension problem, I would to fix the fittings over sending it back due to the store.

The concept is great but the unit fails to live up to expectations. The saw is supposed to clip onto the extension handle but the carrier post broke immediately, being plastic and extremely tight for fit. The extension itself is extremely tight and locks are nearly impossible to seat, due to the same tight fit. The saw body was so tight, it had to be hammered on and left to stay, as taking it back apart is basically impossible, without potentially damaging everything. So much for the hope of a compact design.

blade is only 6.5 inches long. Could have been made 10 inches to cut faster. Not too useful for anything greater than 1.5" diameter. Extension easy to use and ridgid. Can't yet judge it's toughness as I haven't used it much
