I had the opportunity to sample HORMEL® Chili with Beans at the same time as HORMEL® Chili Vegetarian with Beans. Of the two products, I really found that I enjoyed the "meat" version the most. I found that it had a good flavor and texture and that it was thicker and tastier than the vegetarian version. I sampled the chili both by itself and on a cheese coney, and I found that the thinner consistency of the chili worked best when eaten alone. I did not enjoy the texture of the chili when eaten as a coney dog, and would select a different chili for that purpose.
I kindly received the product/service for free in exchange for my honest review. This has quickly become my go to chili for anything from hot dogs to chili fritos. The packaging is very appealing. The WITH BEANS statement is easily viewable. Personally, I don't have a preferance with ot without beans, but sometimes it is good to have this option, as some of my guests prefer chili with beans. This is the perfect staple to my pantry. Can't beat the cost either. Tastes great, much better than some other chili's I've had in the past.
My absolute favorite its a classic hearty style for the whole family with beans, rich beefy taste, and that just like grandmas homemade chilli comfort. Versatile and filling; the crowd-pleaser of the bunch. U could eat it alone or add it on a hot dog.
Great base chili with rich flavor and perfect texture. I like adding beans to make it more filling—works perfectly every time. Super convenient for quick meals like chili bowls or hot dogs. Only downside is a bit high in sodium, but overall delicious and versatile!
This chili was exactly what I wanted and expected. Delicious chili. Easy convenience. I At both servings. One as is and one with cheese added in. If you like a good chili with beans then this is definitely the chili for you. Reminded me of my families homemade chili.
I grew up eating this chili, and adding beans makes it even more filling. The flavor is still rich and comforting, and it's perfect for a quick meal. I like eating it by itself or over rice. The beans give it a nice texture, but it can be a little salty.
This was a great chili. I put it on my baked potato. What a quick, easy and filling dinner. The chili itself was flavor full and needed no extra seasoning. Pop top lid made for easy opening. I would definitely buy this product in the store however I did get this for free in order to write a truthful review. Out of all the Hormel chilis I sampled this was my second favorite behind the chili and cheese.
It's been ages since I've had Hormel's chili again, and they must have changed the formula because these are much better tasting now. They have a less artificial and metallic aftertaste to them, nowhere near as salty, have a more balanced amount of seasoning, and have a much chunkier feel to them. There's also more tender and soft meat in the can, and they aren't too tough and chewy. Was very satisfied eating this on top of a recent batch of nachos! However i do have one mild criticism: there was a ton of both crushed up beans and whole beans that were unusually hardened. The harder beans were mostly at the botton of the can. But its honestly not a huge deal, since if you eat this with chips or other foods its not too noticeable. Despite my complaints I still would recommend for a quick chili fix, or it can be a great base for of soup or just a much bigger pot of chili!
We tried this chili at a party. We used it for fries and hotdogs. And it went pretty good. The taste was good but my family felt like there were a lot of beans and didn't love the texture. That being said the can does say chili with beans. I would definitely recommend this chili
We received this as part of a sampling campaign with 4 other varieties. This ranked 2nd out of the 5. The biggest areas I think would need to be addressed are more chili seasoning, better quality beef and fresher tasting ingredients. I think the best part of the chili was the beans, so perhaps more of that and add in some diced tomatoes and tomato paste for a brighter fresher flavor. While I wouldn't seek this out to buy it again I would be happy if I couldn't afford or find anything else. I wouldn't say it would only be a zombie apocalypse choice but I would be excited if I was enjoying it around a campfire with Rick and Daryl.
