I opened this bag “just to have a couple” and blacked out. Woke up covered in powdered sugar like I’d just won a snowball fight with a bakery. These little donuts are dangerously soft, perfectly sweet, and scientifically engineered to disappear at record speed. One minute you’re being responsible… the next minute you’re shaking the bag for donut dust like it’s the last snack on earth. 10/10 would accidentally eat the entire bag again. Highly recommend buying two — one for sharing and one for “donut research.” 🍩
I was disappointed that they were delivered mostly smashed, but that's a side note. Overall, if you want something not too sweet, Hostess donettes are a good option. High in calories though so I eat them sparingly. The only other drawback is if you get a pack within a month of expiry, it tends to have a more oily flavor and that's a sign that it's closer to expiring than the date states. When I buy these, I always try to ensure the expiration date is at least two months out.
Not sure what is going on at the Hostess plant, but their products seem to have gone down the bean-counter road of saving money via changing ingredients and processes and just don't taste the same anymore. In particular, they are all now slightly off and dry for some unknown reason. I had thought it was just an off-batch sort of thing; but after multiple purchases, it would seem to indicate something more is at work. I absolutely used to love Hostess, but now they are a faded dream of yesteryear. RIP - you will be missed. This is, of course, only my opinion. Your experience may (and hopefully) be different. For instance, some may love the see-through, light-red Hawaiian Punch; but I prefer the old opaque, blood-red version -- which "they" claim is the 'exact recipe'.
i love these donuts as a go to sweet midnight snack. i bought a 3 pack and unfortunately all 3 packs were definitely going stale and had become hard. i order off the app but from now on i won't so that i can actually feel the bags to check the quality myself. tip for anyone that becomes or is a shopper for the delivery apps. just a thought.
I like powdered sugar donuts usually. I ordered 2 bags of Hostess because there was a coupon off 2. They only had 1 bag, and I accepted a substitute for the other bag. I have never had either brand before. I thought at least I could compare them. Surely I would like one of them. I was amazed how equally bad they both were. They were stale, dry, and tasted awful. The taste lingered, in a bad way, for quite a while. I won't buy either kind again. Junk food that tasted artificial, and I will be better off throwing in the trash.
Every time my husband orders Hostess donettes from Walmart the package looks ok but what’s inside is always broken pieces %26 looks like it was passed around like a football. If I order it from a grocery store, example Publix, which is close by always better product. I am including a picture, wished I took it when my husband opened the bag, but I’m sure you get the picture.
These little donuts used to be my absolute favorite decadence. They used to be soft and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Unfortunately, the last couple of times I've bought them, they were dry and stale. They ended up in the trash. I don't like to throw money away, so I won't buy them again. I shall have to just remember them fondly.
I was disappointed to find out that Hostess had produced such a terrible product. Despite having a valid date, still months away, the donuts were incredibly hard and dry, and the flavor was completely off. The Great Value alternative is far superior.
I purchase Hostess Donettes all the time. I will not be buying them anymore. The company has ruined them. They added more fat and increased the calories by 20. They were 230 cal per 3 donuts now it's 250. They don't taste the same and they have a doughy texture.
Hello, I received a box of donuts with a “Best By” date of August 13, 2025. When I went to eat them on September 25, 2025, they were stale. Since the date had already passed, I wanted to bring this to your attention because expired products should not still be in circulation. Thank you for looking into this. Sincerely, [JoeNika]
